In my opinion, Nintendo have 20 years in the market as you say, Sony bring out 1 machine, and it's the best in the market.

I don't care which sells most, i only care about what i like, what i'll buy.

PSP easily wins for me on good games catologue, Umd Movies, etc... :2 cents:

UMD Movies production has just been ceased. Sony's games catalog on PSP is really nothing different from the PS2. Why bother with a handheld that's too large to take anywhere anyway, and is over priced, and full of features you'd never really wanna use.

:) Enjoy.

That was the reason for getting one though, for playing the PS2 games on the move. :)

Too large ?? Seems fine to me. Perfect for those long flights. :)

I got mine cheap. :winkwink:

haha, their games are sorta trippy!

Corleone 07-18-2006 03:35 PM

You do realise the first Sony Playstation was co-designed by Nintendo and was intended to be the next Nintendo console until they cancelled and went with the Nintendo 64...

It's the "best" in the market? Why because it's powerful as hell? Yet the games suck and the battery life is horrid... Whats the point...

Man, they could have made so much money off of UMD. Instead their UMD vids (which is commonly 10 year old movies) is usually a good 5-10 bucks more than brand new retail dvd's. :disgust

If they had offered UMD movies packaged for free w/some new retail DVDs, offered others at a reasonable price ($10), it may have been a more of a success. The PSP is getting closer to being Sony's first console failure. :(

Although the PSP may save grace if/when Microsoft?s portable comes to the market LOL.

You call third in consoles and still fortune 500 a failure? christ man, what are you smoking.

The Wii will sell very well. Hell I know some people who are going to buy a wii just because of Zelda. Plus it will be a great multiplayer-experience. Nintendo-consoles are awesome for multiplayer-games. 4 Player Smash Bros. is a lot more fun than 4 Player Halo2

Kimo 07-31-2006 08:54 AM

yeah zelda will be a big attraction

The Wii will get early sales but you'll see a heavy trade in rate after the initial big name titles come out. Nintendo is too far up its own ass due to Japanese market loyalty. There will be a few adult titles but 3rd parties are already bitching about the difficulty of development.

My guess is the launch of the Wii is going to be huge and then peter out in 1 year. The xbox360 is going to have a solid market for a while and then peter out due to the limited library and the lack of titles. Its not going to have the strength of the PS2 library when the other systems were released. The PS3 I just don't know with the 600 dollar price tag. I just can't see a console market being ok with that. So I think the PS3 is going to have a slow start and work up momentum once the intial blue-ray bugs are worked out and the price starts dropping.

I'm in the games industry... have been for many years. I've been making games as an artist and have worked up to lead positions on some VERY big games. I've been in the thick of things. Going to trade shows, public shows, being onvolved with the making processes also gives you an insider view of the industry.

Nintendo is going to sell a fucking shit load of units.

Low price. Amazing, and innovative new way of playing a console. Almost every 3rd Party company on board (something they lacked last time round).

At this year's E3 (Electronics Entertainment Expo), the largest of all the main videogames industry trade events, the main word on people's mouths was Nintendo.

They announced the Nintendo DS to a lot of Skeptics, and look what happened? Its selling enough to break records.

Nintendo Wii, may have a stupid name. But it's going to blow videogaming out of its current state. Everyone take note.

Nintendo Wii has full motion sensoring. Full positional and rotational detection. It knows where it is in space. No other system has that. Sony announced tilt etc in their controller. But let me make people aware... GameBoy had that same technology years ago. This is different. Imagine playing a first person shooter with the movement controlled on the left hand, and the direction and shoot controlled on the right hand ... actually moving. Imagine cocking the gun back in your hands. Twisting the controller down so you can pistol whip the guy ahead... You don't need a button press... you just do it.

Imagine the possibilities, and open your minds.

I agree. I think the technology combined with low price is a score. It will kick ass.
