well, not me...

Everyone with even basic intellect knows that it would be impossible to check every affiliate against every other affiliate on a quest for perfection and I don?t think that anyone has asked for that. However, you have to be profoundly delayed to harbor the idea that the community does not see where AFF's loyalties lie. I entered into this topic with an objective perspective. I am not an AFF affiliate and I am not an AFF hater. Each message that I read from the AFF camp however, drives me closer to the popular opinion that AFF's concern extends only as far as the profit will allow. I do not know if SpaceDog is an AFF affiliate and I have not seen the site(s) in question. What I do know is that if AFF stepped up and took some proactive (read: SUPPORTIVE) action that demonstrated some compassion for what the smaller programs owners go through it would be a huge public relations gesture. Standing feet-in-the-mud and refusing to move until pushed is not winning friends and attracting new affiliates. I can see that what AFF does is ethically wrong. The larger webmaster community can see that it is deleterious to everyone's efforts and AFF knows on some level that their policy is wrong. What would it take to get AFF to take just one independent step toward eliminating a fraction of the scammers and thieves that profit from stolen work through the AFF program? Let me make this suggestion, for an observation of a problem without a suggestion for change is simply bitching; Pledge 10 man-hours a week to proactively pursuing the content thieves and scammers and then post a list of those that were removed. I bet you a cool tasty beverage that such action will be met with accolades and praise. |

If you can't beat the guy for your own domain name keyword, you might wanna complain to Google not GFY or AFF. (Unless it's porn-sex-mesothelioma.com). Regarding the other keywords "specific to your site" that you are whining about..uh I have some sites that I would like to be ranked higher for as well but too bad how sad so..er....suck it up soldier |

In a perfect world I would be able to guess the URLs but if that was the case I'd probably be buying a lotto ticket right now instead. |
and btw when complaints are made through proper channels we do take care of it.

1. I am not talking about the SpaceDog situation specifically. 2. Being proactive is the key here. Main Entry: pro·ac·tive Pronunciation: (")prO-'ak-tiv Function: adjective 1 [1pro-] : relating to, caused by, or being interference between previous learning and the recall or performance of later learning <proactive inhibition of memory> 2 [2pro- + reactive] : acting in anticipation of future problems, needs, or changes - pro·ac·tive·ly adverb 3. I told you exactly what I would do if I were in your "shoes". Quote:
Just do the right thing man... stop hiding behind policy and legal refuge and do something to demonstrate to the webmaster community that AFF is not in bed with scammers, because the great majority of the AFF posts seem to suggest otherwise. |
Wow..
lot's of response.. Ok.. Sagi.. no complaint to be made in regards to aff as your affiliate is not breaking any of your rules, but is personally offending me & not your program, so no action need be taken on your part. As far as the rest goes, Google is deleting the offending domain from its index |

For what it's worth we actually have a large abuse team and in addition to that we have someone that is full time working on affiliate abuse only. He is readily available and bans affiliates daily. He uses many methods (that I can't share) to catch the violators. |

I hate it when I have to agree with you. |

yeah just seem like someone laid the seo hammer down harder than you did.
It's fair game mate. but the first 80 results... he meant serious business! is the keyword/s a major high traffic keyword? if it is then someone or some people are going to be competing for that/those keyword/s anyway. I bet you didnt put a lock on your results & that's why you got drilled so hard. but I can't imagine it being a major keyword because 80 people/results got wiped out/replaced! In my opinion & not that you asked for it... you can learn exactly what he did or contact him and see if he'll sign up as an affiliate for 1 of your sites if you have a program. but with just the little info you posted I could find the exact keywords in 48 hours max if I wanted too. so if the keywords are converting that well then I wouldnt post this kind of info. It's a just a competiton invitation and if someone is better at seo than you then you already know what can happen. |

Understandable & if we were talking about a keyword such as porn or sex, etc then I agree with you 100%, but in this particular situation I am refering to a domainname.com as the keyword & it is not a generic domain name. |

If you have the skills to get those SERP's, then we will hire you to do our SEO. |
beggining of drama here

It suddenly hit me, you are concerned because if someone does a search for yourdomain.com someone else has the higher SERP's. My question is this, if someone goes to Google and does a search for yourdomain.com instead of just going there, do you really think they are a surfer that are going to spend any money? That sounds like a pretty dumb surfer to me, and I am not entirely sure I would miss them. |
Quote:
are you not aware of just how many surfers/actual customers search for a domainname -/minus the wwwdot & dotcom? the only way you could get more targeted in the this case is to type in/go to the actual site. |
type google or myspace into your keyword tool...
hell since AFF is in this thread type adult friend finder into your keyword tool. |
