They also have their overhead etc.

It's hott girls out there actually doing a lot more peanuts.

Great job on on giving some lucky girl a break :thumbsup

Misgnomer alert.

You're not "giving away" $100k.

That would imply you're asking for nothing in return.

I love how words are twisted and spun in this industry to mislead and disillusion.

Such creativity.

Steve Lightspeed

What if the world ends tomorrow nothing is certain??? I am not trying to be a smart ass as I know that you have really done your job as being the single girl site king but I want to be the single girl site queen and this is where it starts for me. I guess I feel like if I offer a good enough deal I will get some good contestants but as I learned long ago not everything works out. For me I am just ready to take a chance I am very excited for this! I will work my ass off and make it work and that's it! If for some reason they don't fulfill there contract no they won't be paid the last $60k I mean that is pretty obvious if you break your contract you don't get paid. If it lasts and doesn't make at least $60k I am doing pretty much everything wrong I make more then that in one month so I am pretty sure I can make at least enough over the 13 months to cover it. No I am giving it away in return for 13 months worth of work! Giving away is an advertising tool that is used by not only this industry but every other one on the planet! Melissa

nikki99 08-11-2006 08:47 PM

I am interested

tony286 08-11-2006 08:56 PM

so if you dont like working with her,she doesnt get the 100k? I would clarify your contest because it first sounded like you were just giving some chick 100k.I wish you all the best.

No like doesn?t have anything to do with it, If she does her job she will get the $100k just like any other job or contract. I hope we like each other but this is business and as long as the work gets done it will be fine. If you don't do what you are supposed to at work you get fired it's that simple. If she doesn't do what the contract says then no she will not be paid the rest of her money just like any other deal would work. When I won GND of the Year for Gallery Magazine a couple years ago I had a contract to fulfill and I got my last big pay almost a year after I did my last shoot so yea this is how contracts work in this business. If I would of broke that contract I would not of been paid the rest of my money and really could have been sued according to there contract. I am not going to stoop that low if they break it they are out but I won?t go after any monies they have been paid up to that date I am giving some chick as you put it $100k and a new car to drive and a place to live. I guess I just figure that if she goes through everything to enter, comes to Lincoln with the other semi finalist she has a good chance of making through 13 months. If not there will be 4 other semi finalists that can take over! You guys are all underestimating me I will find the best girl because I know what to look for I was that same girl only 2 years ago! Melissa

I admire your energy and enthusiasm. In my experience with solo models, great ones like you are rare. I wish you all the luck in the world, and I look forward to promoting your new site as soon as its ready!

I dont' know how it works with solo models, but is it normal to sign a girl to a 13 month contract after auditioning her a few times?

I ask because people do bring up a good point of how she will act. Maybe she does her job, but she's the ultimate diva and makes your 13 months hell, but still does her job. That would suck for you.

But then again, if that's 'normal' in the adult world, then it's pretty much what you'd end up doing anyway if you wanted to get into the 'Steve Lightspeed' side of the biz. You take your chances when you sign people to contracts I suppose.

I'm really asking mainly because i'm just curious.

SacredGate 08-11-2006 09:57 PM

i wish you got the perfect girl for that contest

Like I said it's all a risk but one I am willing to take! I didn't get to where I am now without taking chances and I still have so much more I want to do. I am now taking on more of the business side of things and in doing so I know there will be ups and downs. I like making money and know my site can't go forever so I will take 13 months of hell for the chance at an extra $500k or possibly even more. Melissa

I'm not trying to question it, i'm really just curious. What is the 'norm' when signing solo models? I know many give them contracts, but do they do a few weeks/months worth of shooting first?

I mean if it's normal to sign them to contracts almost right away, then I don't think what you're doing is very risky aside from the obvious 'bust' (and I don't mean tits) factor, but that's a risk you'll take whether you run a contest or sign some random model.

I hope it works out for you and whatever model you choose :pimp

I found the best way to identify a good potential solo girl is to shoot models on a "per shoot" basis to start with, and use the content on a multigirl site (or have her as a guest on another sologirls site) Only if she proves reliable, and more importantly, popular with surfers and affiliates, then build a site for her.

I've thought some girls would be stars, and been wrong before. This approach takes a lot of the risk and guesswork out of it.

Cool thanks for the reply. That definitely does seem like the safe way to go. I'm clueless to this, I just promote :thumbsup

why can't it go forever?
I started my site when I was 23, 9 years later I am still doing it and happy as ever. I don't have any plans of it ever shutting down.

Well I may keep it up for a long time but I want to do other things too! I am buying a line of hair salons as we speak and going to hair school so when I am ready I can go do that. I guess I love being in adult but I want other businesses outside of here also. Congrats on 9 years that's amazing! Melissa

You have to spend money to make money! I also believe that most of us had to take chances to get the money we have made so it all goes hand in hand right? I appreciate his input on this topic and even asked for it in the post. It's nice to her from someone that is big in the business good or bad! Melissa

Klen 08-12-2006 09:35 AM

O my,that is great risk but i think you will succed but yet again that depend how good will look that girl and what are her possibilites. Also i think you should advertise this content on more places.

Melissa, I am pulling for you babe! If you make this contest a success, and it does not devolve into a cluster fuck, you will become the king maker in the solo girl market.

From my perspective the more top notch single girl sites that can convert and retain its members - the merrier.

Good luck, and keep us all in the loop.

Cheers!

Damn, that's an awesome contest...

I think your on the right track and if it works out like you invision it, it will be a great opportunity for you and the model.

However, one thing sticks out in my mind and I want to share it with you just in case you haven't already thought about it.

You are promoting this as a " Contest " and it seems to me that if you have a " contest " you have to have a winner. I once was involved with a nightclub that had a " calendar girl " contest and they held a contest to find 12 girls to be in their nightclub calender. I was the photographer. As it turned out, in a city filled with beautiful girls, only average girls turned out for the contest. The nightclub tried to get out of making the calendar but one girl rasied a big stink and the calendar HAD to be made. They couldn't give them away.

I think what you are doing is a " Model Search " not a contest and even though you have layed out your rules for the " contest " I'm not sure they would hold up in court if some girl pressed it like the one did the nightclub.

I'm not sure but I think there are actual laws governing " contests " and they vary from state to state. Might be worth looking into given that what you are planning is going to be so widely publicized.

I'm not trying to shoot you down, I'm just thowing this out there just in case it matters. I'd hate to find out you got into a big hassle later and it could have been avoided if you had known.

I wish you the best of luck and I admire your enthusiasm:thumbsup

Melissa, what's the ideal age range for models you are looking for?
Given they are *new* to being content, are you limiting to 18-21 or basically anyone hot enough to succeed and convert?

Model must be at 19 or older but I don't have a certain maximum age requirement per say! Yes she has to be hot but I am looking more for someone that is business savvy or can be taught to be. There are so many pretty girls on the web that I need the other parts too so I would trade a really hot not so smart girl for a really smart and pretty good looking girl. I need her to convert sure but I also need her to be able to retain members. See for me retaining is super important because I make a lot of my money on rebills. I really want to teach this girl to run her own site and do as much on her own as possible! If I can find 3 or 4 of these girls over the next few years well lets just say 3-4 super sites are going to make a lot more then 15 ok sites plus if they can do a lot of the work on there own my work load will be a lot less. Melissa

No - you're not "giving it away". You looking to hire a model on a contractual basis according to your terms.

Big difference.

The thread title is misleading, no matter how you spin it after-the-fact.

Thanks mister knows it all lol! This is business and you always put things to get peoples attention.. Bottom line the contest site explains everything the model needs to know if she wants to enter or not with no misleading titles or facts. If you are promoting it don't use "giving it away" just use what's on the site there is nothing misleading there. Thanks, Melissa

Yea so much now that my lawsuit gets filed next week and my attorney has already been contacted to settle before it's even filed lol. I guess someone in the department must of done something wrong. I also have the Associated Press doing a big story on it and running all across the nation right after it?s filed. Same here, I am looking into opening a gym, I have been studying it and different franchises for about a year now, its a pain in the ass opening a business in a real store... if you follow all the laws... plus one of the equipment companies I was talking to sold my information to a management company now they are bothering me with mail and phone calls about how they can manage the gym for me, run it, order everything... all I have to do is pay for it all....geesh....

But I am not sure what else I want to do, nothing has the profit margin I am making now and in the last 6 months my profits are almost doubled from the previous 6 months... I am almost back to the year 2000 level.. 2001 was so bad for me and most people I know... it took along time to recover from it.

all with out going to jail :thumbsup
