Tom_PM 10-30-2006 10:23 AM

Can you just find a spare buckle that fits and jam it in there?

Tom_PM 10-30-2006 10:24 AM

Not that I would recommend it mind you. I wear mine even for the 100 yard drive to my dumpster, I'm just saying..

CDSmith 10-30-2006 10:41 AM

Just to clear something up, if you want to disable the alarm simply to shut the alarm up and not have the extra annoyance but still intend to wear your seatbelt then I see no problem with this thread. The car I drive most has no seatbelt alarm in it, yet somehow even without that incessant reminder I manage to remember to buckle up when I drive.

But if your intent is to not wear your seatbelt (I don't think that it is) then you deserve any and all heat you're getting in this thread and then some.

Mr Pheer 10-30-2006 12:11 PM

The new F150 that I bought has the seatbelt alarm and I thought it was a good feature just because sometimes I forget to buckle up at first. Sometimes you just have other things on your mind and the little beep reminds you that you forgot to buckle up.

Seatbelts are good safety features and they definately save lives, and I wore mine before the law came out making it mandatory. Its a shame though that the government had to make a law to get people to buckle up since they were too stupid to just do it themselves.

The Captain 10-30-2006 02:01 PM

you bought a car with the seat belt alarm thing YOU FOOL!

Trax 10-30-2006 02:57 PM

why would you not want to wear your belt...
seriously
dont drive without wearing it... i have seen first hand what can happen to you if you dont... you will never forgot those pictures if you get to see what CAN happen

Psycho_x 10-30-2006 03:22 PM

On some models its as easy as disconnecting a wire under the seat. But alot of the wires are all ran through the same connector so if you have power seats that could cause a problem.

I believe it is a crime, woman or not, pregnant or not.

Stupid also.

andrej_NDC 11-15-2006 04:04 AM

Laws which force people to use a seatbelt are fucked up. Its up on everyone and only his choice. And for pregnant women the regular seatbelt can do more harm than good, there are special ones for pregnant women.

NikKay 11-15-2006 07:54 AM

You people are fucking morons.

Why should there be laws requiring anyone over the age of 18 to wear a seatbelt? To protect them from themselves? If you agree with this line of thinking, then certainly you can't argue with banning porn because we need to protect people from the evils they can't protect themselves from. We should also ban all extreme hobbies, such as skydiving and motor cross. And there should definitely be a law that says its a crime to fuck someone without a condom unless you're married to them and have STD tests done at least yearly.

What the hell happened to personal responsibility?

Grrrr.

There are so many things wrong in your reasoning I honestly don't know where to start.

Chris 11-15-2006 09:25 AM

how about just put your seatbelt on? :/

Tom_PM 11-15-2006 09:29 AM

There's laws in NY state for years and years already that you must buckle up. "Click it or ticket" is the annual random seatbelt checks (yes they do them, in the middle of one now in fact).

Also law agains talking on handheld cell phones.

NY State needs you alive to pay the outrageous taxes on everything. We even have "fire-safe" cigarettes so you dont burn yourself and your house down. The papers are treated so that if you dont puff on it, it snuffs itself out.

Yeah, I'm pretty confident that the number of people who die in a week because they didn't buckle up is higher than the amount of people who die from any given "extreme" sport in a year.

Bryan G 11-17-2006 12:02 PM

Maybe put the seatbelt on

If I remember correctly, you have stated that you do not wear your motorcycle helmet in states that don't require it. How is this different?

I'm going to go out on a limb and agree with you to an extent, but starting off any statement with 'you people are fucking morons' isn't exactly the best way to make friends and influence people.

It does make sense to wear a seatbelt, and I also believe all things being equal this should be personal choice. However, all things are not equal... there are other things to consider. Loss of life yes, but more importantly the cost of the medical bills from not wearing a seat belt and having an accident. Unfortunately whether you have insurance or not, your medical treatment is automatic and any costs incurred not covered by insurance and not paid are picked up by the state.

If I become disabled or knocked off my bike, the bike falls over, unable to harm anyone else.

If I am hit by another car in my car and knocked out of the drivers seat because I don't have my seatbelt on the car keeps rolling, with no driver, thus further endangering others.

I can buy that reasoning. I do read 'what if' and 'maybe' into it, which leads to part of the problem with over legislation in the states. Just because something might possibly happen, does not mean it will or that a law needs to be made for it.

I take no responsibility for any injuries you may get involved in driving around without a seatbelt. it's not only there for if you crash, but if you break hard enough you may fall out of your seat and get hurt, THEN causing an accident. the seatbelt was made for a reason, and if you don't click it you get a ticket...

but this SHOULD work for you:

The enhanced "beltminder" feature can be disabled or enabled by the using the following producture. Note: the following events must occur within sixty 60 seconds of the ignition switch being placed in the On position.
1. With the ignition switch in any position except On or Start, buckle the driver side front seat belt.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the On position and wait for the seatbelt indicator reminder function to conclude (about six seconds).
3. Unbuckle and buckle the driver side front seat belt three or more times, ending with the belt buckled.
4. Turn the ignition switch to any position except On or Start to toggle the beltminder feature from its current setting (from active to inactive, or from inactive to active). A single chime tone will provide an audible confirmation that the programming sequence has been successfully completed.

This should do it for you, good luck.

it's not my fault she's pregnant, it's not my fault she doesn't want to drive with a seatbelt, maybe both of those explain why she isn't smart enough to find the "Beltminder Disable" section that comes in the manual of her car.
