I have 12 cats and 2 Boxers... I don't abuse them, and I don't "HIT" them, if my Boxers act out, I take the leash and pop them on the back hip area with it to get their attention but never hard enough to cause them to yelp or anything like that.

With my cats, they are a completely different story. I have 12 of them, they all know their names and they all listen to me. I tried the squirting water from a watergun at them like they say to do, MY cats thought it was a game and didn't respond to that at all... I did everything to keep them off my counters, and I finally got this brainstorm of an idea in my head to thump one on her ear, not hard, just enough to stop her in her tracks..... amazingly this worked so well that all I had to do after the 2nd or 3rd time was to come at her like I was going to get her ear, and thump right beside it, not even touching her, but she heard the sound of it and stopped doing what she was doing.

Of my 12 cats, I don't have one that gets on the counters to actually DO anything, they may put two front feet on my bar, but that's about it, and I say their names and they get down...

We have the most well behaved cats on the planet. And I found out that Persians and Himalayans are too damn lazy to jump on the counters, they want you to fucking SERVE their shit to them on silver platters, to hell with actually working for their shit and getting on the counters, "Bring it to me bitch".. lmao

I won't post them all here, it would take a week to load the damn things, but here are MOST of my cats, I think just like 3 are missing from this listing of them. Sorry about the redeye thing, I am not a photographer at all..... lol

While I'll admit to having spanked my monkey a few times, I've never hit my dog ? we're best friends, and I don't want to change that. Besides, he could fuck me up pretty good if he wanted to...

To me, I treat my animals like I treat my kids, I demand respect from them, but I also GIVE them respect. I wouldn't walk around the house kicking my kids across the room, and I won't do it to my cats, I don't punch my kids in the face, so I won't do it to my dogs..... I will tap/touch them to get their attention, but hitting them doesn't do anything for it to me... in an absolute EXTREME case where they are endangering themselves or someone else, I may catch them a little harder, but ONLY to get their attention, then we go from there with the attitude, your attitude lets them know all they need to know.

Nope, it actually doesn't. I have had service people in here that have seen all of them in their glory and freak because my house doesn't have that "typical" cat smell that one would expect.

BUT, I know what you mean, thing is, it is for ME more than anything, I am deathly allergic to the amonia in cat urine and I can't breathe with it in the air, so I am a major major bitch about those litter boxes.. it is extremely rare cases that you can even smell one cat in my house, much less 12... and NO, I am not a clean freak, my house is strewn like crazy.. just doesn't smell like a houseful of cats live here. lol

I dont spank my dog even though he's very hard headed. I usually correct him by grabbing him by the skin of the back of his neck and say NO. He respnds better to a male voice though.

A dog trainer told me once that the biggest mistake most people do is to expect the dog to understand them and not trying to understand the dog which is key in a good training.

i have a hard time spanking them in a hard, non-playful manner, but luckily i've never really been in a situation where that is necessary.. usually a light spank on the butt (nothing painful) and they get the point. :)

At least every other day... it never goes more than 48 hours without a complete change, scooped everyday... maybe that's why? lol I am borderline obsessive about that and not having my house smell like cats. lol

Seldomly spank my dog on the rear. Verbal is a much better punishment in my mind. They learn by the tone of your voice quickly.

I find that when I get pissed or frustrated with them to the point of wanting to smack em, I just remove them from the room. Put them in the bathroom with the litter box or on the patio for a bit. The worst punishment for many pets is not giving them attention. However, this is less inclined to be punishment and more inclined to give some cooling off time before I lose it.

That's what I have done to mine, they rarely ever piss me off to that point, they just don't act like fools... but when they do, it's in "time out" for their asses. Usually it is just the one Male, he takes spells where he wants to play "who's in charge" and he starts chasing the others..... that lands his ass in the bathroom for a couple of hours and he settles down REAL fast. He's my baby and he hates not being near me.

And to answer that litter box thing, bu((aneer, I spaced that one. I have 4 litter boxes in my house. An average of one per 3 cats... :1orglaugh

Ours are so light (8lbs max) sometimes when i'm working it becomes a game to them...hop on my desk, ass in my face - pick em up and toss on on the beanbag or floor, they hop up and do it again. Eventually I have to get up open the patio so they can harass the birdies that come up to the feeder. Distraction is everything :1orglaugh

I don't think you should beat your kids but since you can communicate words to children as well, I think smacking a child is ok ... as long as the message is being put in with words too ...

Children, at the age when they can not talk, can be smacked very lightly, and told because they're learning words and this will help them learn. But human children don't gradually become violent over time if you use this kind of discipline ....

I think it's unneccessary. I don't think spanking does fuck all. Smacking ... you can do.... there's a big difference.
