it's not about being practical, it's about standing out from the norm. i wouldn't expect there to be anything painful about what she's done at all. no more so than getting 100 or so piercings, lol. the area which the piercings are put won't bend in any way that would stretch the strings and put too much pressure on the pierced points. i'm sure she let the piercings heal up first too.
