time = money, but time is the one thing most poor people have in abundance.

W13, I am just starting with the blogs myself, i have read a lot about it
and have a fair idea on how things work. I ran a TGP a couple of years ago,
give me a buzz on icq if u have any questions that maybe I can help you out
with.

Good luck

Here's what I would suggest

If you dont have any experience with traffic.

pick up a couple of Submit passes from
http://www.submitpasses.com
They are fairly cheap, and will give you an idea of how traffic behaves in various niches. One of the key elements of the industry is being able to monetize traffic... see if you can make a profit. If you buy $100 worth of spots and you make back $120.. you just made a profit :)

Just a suggestion, you don't have to take it.

starpimps 12-31-2006 05:26 PM

if you think about it logically, you want to put 1000 into a tgp to make around 1000/month

thats one hell of an roi...wouldnt everyone just put in 100k starup to make 100k/month?
it simply doesn't work that way

I wasn't saying that I wanted to be making $1000/month from the get go, but maybe 6-12 months down the line that is what I would be earning.

Can you explain what that is all about? I make my own gallery and submit it to one of those partner sites and it will appear on their site? Where do I get the galleries from?

You´ll usually have to build the galleries on your own. In most cases fhg´s and sponsor gallery templates won´t be listed. Once you have built the gallery, you´ll submit it and it will be listed and send you traffic.

That´s a good way to learn about traffic. But don´t be disappointed if a gallery doesn´t deliver sales. Just test other sponsors for those tgp´s.

So it sends traffic to MY TPG or whatever sponsor I am using??

I am confused on this, sorry! :(

submitting sponsor galleries to other TGPs. you'll need a pretty good server though. it doesnt give your TGP any traffic unless you have reciprical links at the top, the purpose is to get money from sending sales to affiliate programs

So I could basically pay say, $30/month to any of the sites listed on thee, design my own gallery based off of my sponsors gallery and essentially be earning a few hundred dollars per month off of this? Is that possible? Sounds like a pretty good idea to get my feet wet in this buisness. :)

hamburg 12-31-2006 05:48 PM

I agree with the others, make some galleries, submit them and see how all that works, once u learn this u will be learning how other things work.

You learn the more time you spend in this industry.

I would asume if you had a finacial report of every tgp there is the average would be negative.
But I do know a few guys who make 20k+ a month

sigh... if you know how to squeeze money out of surfers then you can make money with tgp's. but if your like jace's friend who only makes $1200 a month from a 130k tgp then you might as well not even give it a shot. i've made $600/month consistantly from a 10k/day CJ. it's all about getting the surfer to click on anything within your site. but be sure the clicks are benefiting you or your site in one way or another. whether its a click to a trade, a hardlink to a toplist that will send traffic, galleries, ads to a sponsor, all that good stuff.

its all about efficiency. not looking pretty with $300 designs like some people seem to think. all im saying is if you know what you're doing you can make a 5-10k/day tgp in the right niche for as little as $5-15 feeder and as quickly as 1 week. but again thats if you know what you're doing.

it takes a lot of trial and error such as ad placement, what types of ads to use, where to place your ads, where to place your toplist, where to place your thumbs, what size thumbs get the most clicks, what sponsors have the best content for thumbs, what sponsors convert best, what sponsors make the most money, where to place hardlinks, what skim to use, what trades have good production, what trades can return the amount of traffic you can send, etc.................

a lot of variables go into knowing how to build traffic and make money with a TGP. once you have it figured out then you will make money. until then you'll be sitting around with a thumb in your ass doing 500 uniques a day hoping you make A sale this month. :2 cents:

As a sponsor you want to get places like http://www.freehostedgalleries.com to include your FHG's. Webmasters go to places like that looking for FHG's and you can attract new webmasters that way. Most TGP's will not accept FHG's, usually *fake* tgp's have nothing but FHG's with the webmasters referral code in them. If you have any questions hit me up :)

tgp is NOT a get rich AT ALL scheme anymore, in fact I personally think it is one of the worst decisions a newbie webmaster can make

I run both TGPs and blogs. My blogs make me more money but take more time to run/update/etc whereas a TGP requires a few hours a week MAX to run. The time required to run a tgp is significantly less than the time required to run a REAL blog.

At the end of the day I really don't give a shit about which makes more money though. What matters is how much time I have to put in to get money out and imho TGP/MGP is the better choice*.

*if you know what you're doing that is....

if you know what you are doing, the the sky is the limit... if you don't, you will be lucky to get your investment back... this biz isn't what it used to be, days of putting up a site, and making bank are long gone...
