Since I'm fairly careful about the sites I go to, I don't have any installed on this computer (I consider it a 'gfy only' pc). That said I have not gotten any spyware/scumware/viruses thus far on it. I've only had one warning with ie7 as well. On my new computer and archive computers, I have two pieces of software installed. My archive computers have never had an instance of intrusion, my main computer has had maybe two or three [and this is going to a lot of highly infested websites] instances. I guess it goes back just to the user being a dumbass and not protecting their shit. Kinda like people and condoms :winkwink:

So you're saying that you have to be careful where you surf, and need two computers to go on the web, plus 2 programs.

lmfao

That is quite the anti-virus system you have there.:thumbsup

Anyone that uses their business computer to surf the web is foolish :2 cents:

1. This is a JUNK computer. I use it mainly to surf the interweb.
2. My main computer is essentially atm my gaming pc. Since I do like the occasional multiplayer fragfest, I'm afraid it does have to be connected on the web =( LAN parties are great and all but I rarely get to do them anymore.
3. I have a small 'fleet' of archive computers that are not on the interweb period but on their own intranet.

Hope that cleared up any confusion for you. "there aren't huge fucking security holes because macs os is open source." :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Amen to that. :thumbsup Then again most people don't even have a simple raid setup to protect their most important shit or do timely backups =\

You'd think so, but evidently not. You have to go into such great detail for some people... /sigh

I never realised there were so many kids on this board. This thread is like Sega vs Nintendo or some shit.

'macs are for gays' 'only retards buy macs' 'macs only have 1 button' ...yadayada.

You're clueless. Macs and PCs do the same thing, just how they do it is different. Honestly, you can't mention the word Apple here without some fucking idiot jumping in saying his PC is better and macs are gay. You people are the only fucking retards in this thread.

My dual-Xeon 5100-series PC is pretty much identical in hardware to a mac pro. As I was pondering a new computer this fall, I seriously thought about getting a mac because I do quite a bit of photoshop and videowork. But I got the same hardware in a PC for a few hundred cheaper, and since I already have the software licensed to PC, and the hardware is the same. I saw no point in moving to a new platform and re-learning the ropes. No point.

Photosop is no better on mac than it is PC, that really is a myth. And this is comming from a Mac user. The fact that you get more graphics professionals using macs rather than PCs is merely down to the stability and security of the OS IMO.

Video is a slightly different though, Final Cut Pro is not on PC. Lots of porn companies are cutting their movies on macs. I guess these people are gay retards like the rest of us mac users. :-/

Jakke PNG 01-09-2007 04:15 AM

I use Vegas video, have been for years and I wouldn't switch to any other prog available... even if they're 'better', I know vegas and I don't need to 'upgrade' to another prog. Never used final cut pro, so I don't know what I'm missing. But it's not bothering me the slightest.

Same thing with photoshop, if a 'better' program came along, I wouldn't switch..simply because I know photoshop and it gets the job done.

Well, actually the reason why you get more graphics professionals using Macs is mostly due to when the PC color palette was only 216 colors and Mac's was 256, so when you did make a layout on a Mac you couldn't transfer it to a PC without fucking it up. And Macs had a much wider Grey Scale. And, in the old days, Photoshop on a Mac was different (and better) than Photoshop on the PC.

Also the Mac Quadra 840 A/V was a bad ass graphics computer when it first came out, there was nothing in the PC's that compared. Came with built in Video and Audio capture card.

So, from there, most of us just stuck with Macs.

So many retarded webmasters here it's not funny.

Mac Os is way better than Windows at the moment, that's what everyone with a working brain that uses both systems will tell you.

Then there's the stupid fucktards that never owned a Mac a like to talk shit, I didnt know there were so many here on GFY.

If you do make the switch, you will see the point :thumbsup

LOL! Name one. Since you can run Windows nativally on a mac system now, what exactly can a "pc" do that a mac can't?

Don't be so sure, you can't form an opinion when you haven't used both. I switched after years of PC use, it's kinda amazing all the things you take for granted in Windows when there's nothing else to compare it against.

That's pretty fucked up logic right there. "You can't say you don't like a big black guy named Ben shoving his cock up your ass if you haven't tried it." :(

Geez, how can you review a movie if you haven't even seen it?

get it? ....start talking about black guys and anal sex again cause it's really relevant.

I've never seen Passion of the Christ but I can pretty much gather it's about a guy dying on a cross. :thumbsup

Exactly. Don't knock it til you've tried it.

PC users in this thread sound like angry republican Bush supporters.

They have their information all wrong, have never tried anything new, but know they are right.

Yea, true, it was Apple, right? Oh, wait, Apple took the idea from Xerox.

It's funny how easily riled-up Apple fan boys get over the dumbest things, you'd think their girlfriends were getting spat on.

Just remember, how ever much you prey to Steve Jobs at night thanking him for your dream machine, he's not going to show up at your front door and give you a blow job.
