yup, similar law was passed in South Africa couple of years ago, the US is just a bit behind

I can't believe that there are still places on this Earth where I have to enter e restaurant and the smokers and the non-smokers are seated together

Smokers for the most part are some of the most selfish people in the world, and my mother topped that list.

it got to a point, where I had to nail a sign on the front door that said.."No smoking." But she wouldn't want to respect that, it was too difficult for her to just step outside on the porch and smoke.

Back when I was a kid, there was still smoking in hospital rooms. I awoke after surgery to find my mom sitting at the edge of my bed smoking a cigarette.

When my parents divorced and it was just me, my father and brother, everytime we went out to dinner there would be a non-smoking section, mainly it was the worst section of the restraunt. It would always be the closest to the kitchen doors, and the only thing that seperated us from the smoke would be a magical 3 foot tall piece of glass.

For many of my 40 years on this planet, smokers had the upper hand and were catered to at the expense of everyone elses health and happiness.

Smokers are also fairly disgusting people, with even more disgusting habits. Think about how many times you drive up to an intersection and see where smokers have emptied their ash trays out onto the street. Nothing better than to eat with a smoker who decides to put his cigarette out into his food, or drink, and I'm still eating.

Hell when I was a kid, smoking was allowed everywhere. People would smoke in the grocery stores and put their cigarettes out on the floor for fuck sake.

Now with that in mind. I do believe people have the right to do whatever the fuck they want to their bodies. It is your body, if you want to fill it with food, meth, fuck a knothole in a tree, as long as it doesn't affect others fine.

Give smokers a section to smoke in bars, restraunts, etc. Don't relegate them back to the kitchen like they did us, make it equitable, but force companies who decide to keep smoking to put in nice ventilation systems.

In Arlington, Texas, when they put in a tough smoking ban, I remember some places put smoking areas in enclosed rooms and everything was fine. Sure it was costly, but if it keeps both non-smoking and smoking customers happy, and keeps business coming in, then its a value added cost.

Well, i smoke, but i don't think i've ever done anything in that list other than put cigarettes out in the streets. (old bad habit)

But I disagree with you in regards to not segregating people who smoke. I smoke, and i can't stand when people smoke in bars and such. It's just nasty

I think if you reread what I posted, you will see I favor segregating smokers...I said give them their own sections but make sure the companies who allow smoking have great ventilation systems.

I think if the bar wants to allow cigarettes or cigars, it should be able to, and will either benefit, or hurt it's business based on the customers it can draw.
I hate the fact that we are told, no you can't because some people don't smoke. There are plenty of non smoking establishments, it should be an option posted on the outside of the building.

With that said, I thought it sucked that the foundation room, a private club created for cigar smokers, has to change it rules for everyone else.

Then I want to say "Thanks" to the sponsors of the cigar party at Internext. It was outstanding and needs to be a tradition. My wife Mary and I had a great cigar that we shared, and an even better time!

Well said Craig T....
Thanks for coming to the Cigar gathering! We are going to make it a show and Las Vegas tradition for sure. Next show up coming in LA we will have a great spot to smoke there.....:thumbsup

As for those who want to tell me to put my cigar out... you can ask, but dont think its going to happen...:1orglaugh

I think you really miss the point. It is about health and safety of workers and guests. The government tells private business all the time about stuff like this. From safety ropes to breathing masks to proper ventilation to required safety equipment, it is pretty standard. Second hand smoke has been shown to be dangerous, actually more dangerous than smoking (because those of us inhaling the second hand stuff don't get a filter, the smokers do). It is an issue of making businesses and workspaces safe for the workers and the members of the public who come to those establishments.

Trying to make it out as some afront to your personal rights is laughable, because you forget the rights of all of those people who don't smoke.

Tell you what, when we are in a restaurant together, you light up, and I will come piss on your table, because I should have the right to piss freely without the government or some dumb business guy telling me where I should piss.

That's just the way it goes--it has to adopt to changing demographics and changing times.

Prostitution is NOT legal here. Hookers are just easy to find.

As long as the bars stay open 24/7....I'm good!

There are so many different kinds of people out , depending on what time you go out. It's very cool.

Casinos will be non smoking with 2 years. Thankfully.

I would love to see it but doubt it very much. They tried doing that at a casino in Australia and the high rollers from China basically said "Fuck you, we're going back to Macau" ..so the Casino built a special smoking room for high rollers only.
