I've got lots of airline stories but to be honest, yours takes the cake. Glad you made it out alive though. :thumbsup |

Viki, your flight was probably the most Dangerous, that sounds horrible that the pilot would do that.
But Buster, that turbulence story sounds like it was pretty bad if you were there. I went through 20 minutes of that on my flight to Florida last year, but nothing that bad. |
Fuck that shit.....I would of had a heart attack
|
I am just glad you are here my freind to share this with us..

There was another flight from West Palm Beach to Atlanta a few years back. Delta Lockhead Tristar jumbo jet. Taxied out towards the runway and the pilot comes on the intercom telling us they can't get the third (tail) engine to fire that he is going to have to pull over and maintenance will come take a look. :helpme
About 15 minutes later you here drilling, banging, all kinds of noise. Was pretty freaky - really like being in a tin can. After about 30 minutes pilot announces the engine is fixed and about 300 nervous ppl look around as if they were wishing they were on another flight. Finally time to take off and he took every inch of that runway to get that big bird in the air!! |
My worst experience isn't due to a bad plane/crew/malfunction or whatever..
..but as I got back from my honeymoon this past july I had a horrible ear infection, and I lost balance half-way thru a 4 hour flight and it was the worst experience of my life, it felt like the plane was continuously tilting to the right. You know when you're REALLY drunk and go to bed and the room spins, it felt like that but way way way way worse. I puked my guts out..and when we landed it felt like someone was stabbing my eardrums with a knife... This was great especially since we flew from Milan to Berlin..so I got to experince all of this AGAIN as we flew from Berlin to Helsinki.I even went to the airport doctor in berlin and all he said "Well, you can either just try to endure the flight, but I recommend that you take a hotel at your own expense until you no longer have the ear infection". He couldn't do anything about it, which sucked. I have never been afraid of flying, but I was trembling and I had cold sweat on my entire skin as we waited to board the second flight in Berlin. There's been some other 'horror' stories that caused my relatives to get fear of flying. As a kid when we flew to Hawaii we took a 747 from LA to Honolulu, and as the plane took off it immediately took a very very sharp turn, and it honestly looked like the wingtip would crash to the ground. We were probably dozens of meters in the air, but my aunt still started to fear flying after that. Another fun deal was when me and my wife returned from a new years party in Amsterdam in 2003 the plane had to circle Helsinki airport for a while because one of the tires was stuck and we were told to prepare for an emergency landing. Luckily the tire popped out after a while. :) |
Wow, that sucks...
My worst flight story is from September 11th 2001, London to Dallas. We were in the air just off the US east coast when the towers were hit. The plane turned around, and we landed in Gander, Newfoundland, where I slept on a church bench for 3 days, before they flew us back to London. |
A friend I had in school was actually in a hijacking. Some drunk idiot, with what turned out to be an air-gun, hijacked the plane. He told me they werent allowed to go to the toilet, so he had to piss in his pants.
Eventually the moron was arrested, after he traded the air-gun for a case of beer. |
Sounds like a fun ride for sure.

sounds horrible - Ive had a few that were pretty scary as well

I used to fly an Eastern Metro puddle jumper to Hilton Head from Atlanta about every month or so for business. It was a little 8 seater. The aiport in HH was SMALLER than the one in "Wings" and had their own dog, cat and bird to keep you entertained while you waited :)
One day we were flying into a VERY bad storm. Those who live on the southern east coast know how quickly they can pop up, and had to fly about a mile or two over the ocean and make our approach from a different direction than normal. Not to mention the plane was bouncing ALL OVER THE PLACE as soon as we hit the weather. And unlike a jet, it couldn't fly over it. There was a guy on the flight who had just been told his brain cancer was in remission. He said "Gee - wouldn't it be ironic if I survived all that to die in a plane crash?" NOT something I wanted to think about! Eastern went on strike about a year after I started that territory so eventually I flew in Delta into Savannah and drove to HH. But I'll never forget that ONE flight. Ever. And yes, I still love to fly - even the small planes - and would like to take flying lessons :) |
You haven't had a bad flying experience until you've been stranded in Los Andes and eaten a couple of your fellow passengers.

Yes I know that feeling security always flags my laptop and it gets swabbed and tested a lot :( but ya it's good to keep it "clean" when travelling across the border. Sounds like we have the same luck in airline experiences, Ace!! We have had those kinds of things happen on our flights too :( |
Plane broken, something wrong with the fuel valve, 5-hour delay, United staff not wanting to help you out, missing the connecting flight to Amsterdam, staying a night in Chicago, arriving a day later than planned.
Does this count? :/ |

Oh man that's a good one. Don't know if I have you beaten but i got a shitty one as well.
Leaving Montreal with Jetsgo to go to Vancouver several years ago. We take off and right after take off the plane starts shaking and pilot says we must turn around and land back to Montreal... No biggie. We go back down, wait about 4 hours with a coupon for a cheeseburger a fry and a coke. They call us back we board, I asked is this another plane and girl says no it's same plane, no worries they changed the part... Yeah Right, no worries!!! We go back up and it took a bit longer but again plane starts shaking like crazy, like a dirt bike going over bumps and looking out the window i clearly see we are not gaining altitude and we seem to be turning ans St-Laurent river is approaching. NOw people are freaking out in the plane and mind you the fucking pilot doesn't think to speak up and reassure everyone. We are now going down water getting closer and this lady shouts "OMG we are going to die" I look behind the stewerdess as her head between her knees, that's when i said to myself "Great, we are going to die" Anyways was one of the roughest landing i ever experienced and when back the fuckers did not say anything told us a new plane would fly but it will take an yet again 6 hours to get here. Said fuck that, went to aircanada counter and never flew again with them. They went bankrupt several years after that. |
Aside from some horrifically bumpy flights the worst I've had was where when taking off the plane (it was beyond full) ran out of runway as it struggled to get into the air.
The tyres hit some barrier at the end of the road and I was sitting at the back of the plane listening to all the flight attendants freaking out that there was damage done to the tyres and how the hell are we going to land now. 14 hours of 'I'm going to die soon' later we landed ok, if a bit lopsided. Took some convincing to get me on the plane home lol |
I don't like that way of transport...
|
I have been forced to wait until the next day to catch connecting flights a couple times.
That always sucks. A 8 hour journey turns into a 30 hour one. The airlines always pay for the hotels though. |
hey Mark remember the flight from Amsterdamn to Munich this year on the small plane and then it dipped big time in mid air. LOL!
Good thing we were all shitfaced or that would have scared us LMAO! DH |

Sounds shitty. |
You guys suck....beside the ID story the rest is normal administration.....all this fuss for nothing?

Somehow I ended up watching almost the entire "Mayday" marathon Discovery channel was showing in early January this year. I must say that made me much more observant than I usually am while flying, and I made sure to ask for a seat above the WING. No way am I sitting up front or in the tail.

Only had to break out the bibles once!

Damn Mark that sounds rough
Glad you made it out ok :) |
I haven't flown for a while but I remember that there used to be a sharp "rap rap" when first taking off, like a car travelling over a bridge seam. First time I heard it I thought the ass had hit the ground. I still don't know what causes that.
Another fun thing was what sounded like a kitchen knife as we were taxiing... I think it was actually the pilots testing the flaps. :1orglaugh I was a kid back then so I didn't know any better. :1orglaugh |
Glad you arrived safely Ace... sorry you had a shitty day :/
