I'm not taking you the wrong way - I just don't think its fair that, often you, bash programs for starting out with basic feeds. (even though some clearly suck) Nobody has to start out perfect, no reason for people to do so.
I can tell you what most programs problems are with feeds. Two things.. We have hell keeping good writers (search how many times I have asked for writers) then the extra $10 per gallery. A $20 gallery is now $30, again cutting into the very thin profits galleries have anyway.
I sell the RSS Feed product for NATS, and I don?t hide anything with the clients. I tell them the truth, RSS feeds is another project, an employee. They can be half ass and they will always be half ass ? or you put time and money into them, do them correctly, and people will use the hell out of them. But make no mistake, it is a lot of extra work, money, and time.
That is why I jumped back at you, this isn?t a normal job for the program, so its going to take many of us awhile to catch up to the few people doing it really good.
So what we really need is a full service writing company that can take on lots of programs... I personally could send probably 5-10 clients.

Please remember though, that myth you are sticking too, applies in different curcumstances...if a blog user is responsible about what he publishes and does it the right way, the duplicate content myth won't affect him nearly as much as you think it will.
I am a first hand case of the truth to that
the ONLY thing I use is rss, and it has been that way for almost 9 months now, and I have top rankings in every SE for terms that would make newbies cum their pants....I have never been penalized, and in all seriousness, my shit just keeps growing...
so, it is all up to the webmaster how they use it, and I think it is kind of wierd that a program owner/programmer would play police on what he thinks I should and shouldn't use....those dvd text write ups are killer, and I could hate to NOT use those in a feed....especially when it is something as simple as polling a mysql database and placing them in the feed.
as for bashing programs for starting out with basic feeds...I don't really have much to say about that, except for if you aren't going to do it right, don't do it at all. GFY is a WEALTH of knowledge on this subject, and if a program isn't going to sit for a while and read up on what their affiliates want, then oh well.
yes, gallery feeds might get you some traffic, but you are in the small percentage of who that is working for. I get contacted on ICQ daily these days asking me why programs won't put out good rss feeds, and while I am working with a lot of programs on their feeds, majority of the feeds out there SUCK, and it is just silly as a sponsor to try and enter in to a realm of promotion for affiliates that they haven't read up on or researched...and when a program comes out with a single image and a line of text, it is obvious they spent no time researching and lots of time building
