it just seems silly to me to install a new OS. particularly when just installing updates causes so many issues, not to mention the service packs.

there is no reason to install Vista on an XP machine unless its just for the cool factor. thats something that has always backfired on me in the past. particularly with notebooks. i won't install it on anything... much better to just wait and buy machines where it comes installed, everything works etc.

Bozena X 02-19-2007 02:24 AM

spend the extra $ with Mac:thumbsup

That's what '98 users use to say about XP. :winkwink:

A friend of mine installed yesterday in his new laptop "specifically designed" for vista. Everything works only problem is that it is very slow even with 2GB of RAM.

Then we started installing all those programs he needs .. and 8 out of 10 didn't work... what a fucking joke

On top of that, I found it quite slow to work with to be honest...

There's no way I'm gonna install that shit before I'm 100% possitive that all the tools I use on a daily basis works..

Time to upgrade that 486!

E$_manager 02-19-2007 07:52 AM

I will probably listen to you. Anyway, i was not even going to install Vista.

TheLegacy 02-19-2007 07:56 AM

why is it so important to have the latest software when your current OS works fine to begin with? MS has developed a client base of sheep

Tom_PM 02-19-2007 08:07 AM

I'll be getting new desktop soon... with XP Pro.

4Man 02-19-2007 08:23 AM

It is realy fucked up!!!!!!!!!

gecko 02-19-2007 08:23 AM

Got no plans on installing it

Big John 02-19-2007 09:03 AM

Bought a new machine and it came pre-installed. No problems with it here.

That said I won't be upgrading any of the machines running XP simply because I have no reason to. If I want to take advantage of the newer stuff included in Vista for games then it'll be on a more powerful new machine with the relevant hardware that will have Vista pre-installed anyway.

Adultnet 02-19-2007 09:05 AM

im working with vista and allmost everything works good...:)

sltr 02-19-2007 09:24 AM

i installed vista the day it came out on my sony vaio core 2 duo lappie, fresh install, and i am loving it! works great, haven't rebooted in days even.

and office 2007 RULES!

RedShoe 02-19-2007 09:27 AM

You all should have stuck with 2Kpro. I haven't had a problem in years. If I could reinstall Win 3.1... I would. Life was much simpler back then.

loverboy 02-19-2007 11:31 AM

i'll give it 2 years, so far XP Pro works for me

as they say "if it ain't broken, why change it"

i installed vista a while back, it is a decent OS... i liked it alot... but it just looks good, and takes alot of resources.. so i installed xp pro back

naitirps 02-19-2007 02:35 PM

i installed ultimate on my pimp custom machine (e6600 oc to 3.2, gtx 8800, 2 gig pc2 6400) - pretty much 5.9 on everything... and 32bit was DOG slow. didn't matter what i was doing. Cs:s in xp had 300+fps, in vista, 90 avg. I scrapped it, installed 64bit and it was MUCH better, but than half the shit don't run. so I finally decided to install it a 3rd time, 64bit on 2ndary hd just to keep up with the updates, style, and technology going forward. Would I use it as a primary OS? Hell no - not till a similar SP2 for xp has come out for it.

ThreeDeviants 02-19-2007 03:51 PM

ya, i'm not installing a new OS for awhile... XP works fine, don't see the need to shell out extra cash time and effort just yet... I'll probably wait till they're up to SP2 then re-evaluate heh

KustomKowgurl 02-19-2007 04:01 PM

"You are coming to a sad realization. Cancel or Allow?"

Hahahahaha! This is why I use Macs.

pocketkangaroo 02-19-2007 04:11 PM

It has some cool things to it, but just not enough. The amount of resources that it takes up is just ridiculous. The DRM shit also worries me too. Seems they built it for the entertainment companies and not for users.

OY 02-19-2007 04:14 PM

Hmmm, and I am about to unpack a new desktop AND a new laptop, both with VISTA pre-installed.

Oh well, ill report back if it is all fucked.

AIREK - good news on the golf clubs! Hit the range and then lets go whack a few.
