I have seen some minor gay leaders on TV express the same sentiment. They have expressed the opinion that flaunting homosexuality actually harms their movement, and have stated that their focus should be getting laws changed via legal channels and not flaunting themselves in parades etc.

I was a big proponent of gay rights until my sister decided to become one of those weekend warrior lesbians.
