Ever been to a Fetishcon or Bondcon event and talked with other producers (not merely webmasters)? The majority will tell you they don't earn an overly lucrative income - in fact many are lucky to break even at the end of the day. A large number of them do what they do because its an enjoyable extension of their lifestyle. Not everyone is in the game solely for the money, contrary to what many around here evidently assume.

Producers differ from webmasters when it comes to earnings. Small-scale ma-'n-pa operations often walk a tightrope between expenditure and generated revenues. Models cost money. Camera, lighting, studios/locations, makeup, computers, props, etc. The overhead cost is comparatively enormous for producers.

Many I've talked with at conventions hold down second and third jobs. No shame in it. They're not on the welfare dole. Along with our bondage/fetish production, my wife and I hold down two additional 9-5 jobs - as well as my third job as a mainstream photographer and graphic illustrator (which I do in my rare spare time).

One of the biggest mistakes here on GFY is people constantly leaping to erroneous assumptions about others based on a few simple message posts.

Its rampant and ridiculous.

When I was in university I lived in a house that only had one parking spot, so I had to park on the road. I went to the office where they give out permits and they told me that they were sold out for my street and the streets around me (probably because it was close to school and it was cheaper to pay for street parking than the ass raping prices the school was trying to charge for monthly parking). I didn't really have any other place to put my car so I started to get tickets. One day I was home when the parking guy came by and I explained the situation and asked him kindly if he could just not give me tickets. He informed me that his job was to "give out tickets, not to think." Those were his exact words. So every week I would get 5 tickets (because you could park on the street on the weekend) and every week I would go and fight the tickets always getting off. How fucked up is that?

I really don’t understand people like that. There is a fine line between doing your job and just plain fucking someone over on a daily basis. I agree that if you park somewhere like a handicapped spot you should get a ticket, but there are so many other situations where there should be some discretion involved.

By the way... The question was never answered...

Why does SK have to be a meter maid if he is so good at what he does in adult when his niche is one of the most profitables?

I seldom answer questions from those I consider persona obscura much of the time.

Your question and the tone in which it was asked doesn't merit a response.

While I can sympathise and understand your plight, where would you have that bylaw officer draw the discretionary line? He's not paid to make those decisions. He enforces what he's been told by his superiors to enforce. Once he starts making personal judgemental discretions - he invites complaints from others for playing favoritism.

Obviously you don't understand the basic tax and income differences between a sole proprietorship and an incorporated company.

You don't even know anything about me.
Started part time, went full time, worked for adult hit kit, CECash, neglected my sites, job ended, went back to work.

Bank in Canada like you to have a regular FT job to get a mortgage. My friend has a successful car stereo biz and can't get a mortgage.
