Agreed, wholeheartedly. But kids are a consideration, too, right? Isn't there a natural tendency for a US-based non-parent to want for their (future?) child to be a US citizen?

This is a hard one but it is not like you would have to pick a shit hole. And a highly educated kid in a third world country does pretty good too.

Ummmmm Not all wives need "financing", some wives make more than their husbands/boyfriends. A lot more. And don't NEED money from their husbands/boyfriends.

Ross 03-20-2007 06:38 AM

I'm not from the US but if someone told me to do the same to the UK then I'd do it no problem. 30 days a year is enough time to spend with family and friends... plus they can always come and visit you as well.

You never know how you'll feel apart from your friends and familly in a foreign country. I always thought i'm cosmopolitan and can live whereevere i want, but having in mind that you can't return for a long time and you have to be in some other country.... so sad.

Brad 03-20-2007 07:09 AM

Is this the new American Dream? Just be born and you could be a millionaire.

crockett 03-20-2007 07:18 AM

sure...as long as I don't have to pay taxes on the million. :1orglaugh

JD 03-20-2007 07:57 AM

i'd be gone in a flash. with 1mil and the right investing you'd never need to work again. :)

You move to the country where you don't have to pay this kind of tax :) He he :)

Dollarmansteve 03-20-2007 08:21 AM

You could get a decent house in Canada, free health care, all the american media you want, etc. And no worries about us granting you status here, we let anyone in!

As long as you arent a doctor, lawyer or engineer from a foreign country you will be able to get a job other than cab driver.

Redmanthatcould 03-20-2007 08:22 AM

Make it ten million and I DON'T have to give up my U.S. citizenship, then we can talk. Sure, you might ask, "well, what are you giving up?" - to which I really have no answer.

woj 03-20-2007 08:26 AM

i'm neither.

Z 03-20-2007 08:37 AM

In a heartbeat...

I'm not a kid or a democrat. Neither am I anti-US, in fact...I'm a veteran. What I am is aware that there are better options for citizenship out there and that $1mil could go a long way towards other things that are more important than the passport I'm carrying.

Can move anywhere in the world.. but must renounce US citizenship, and obtain residency/citizenship of other country- permanently.

Max 30-days annual visitation to US.

No way. Living in the US is worth way more than $1 million.

TBrown 03-20-2007 08:41 AM

Splum 03-20-2007 08:42 AM

I agree with you to some degree. However, it is annoying how corrupt and corporate interest driven the country has become. I do understand why some people might be feed up, or tired of what is going on.

LiveDose 03-20-2007 09:05 AM

I wouldn't for any amount. But that's just me.

HAHAHAHAH!!! :1orglaugh

Dude... get me a 2nd passport and I will renounce my US citizenship for FREE the moment you hand me the other passport. The USA can black list my ass if they want, don't care.

StuBradley 03-20-2007 09:18 AM

I would take that offer.

Exactly.. This isn't the 1950's there are a lot of countries that have as much or more than the Us has to offer. Besides that, most people in this country will never even make a million dollars in their entire life time, specially tax free million bucks.
