that is the one thing that any republican nominee against her would have in his pocket. There are a lot of republicans out there that hate the Clinton's with a passion, just like there area lot of democrats out there that hate Bush. That hatred toward her could help rally the republican party around their candidate.

Either way I think the next election is going to be very ugly and will do very little to unite the country.

Thompson is an interesting choice. The fact he was an actor would hopefully mean he'd be less inclined to push for obscenity convictions and other things that would hurt free speech in the entertainment industry. He's still 50 years behind on social issues, but nowadays you have to be to win the Republican nomination.

Don't count on it. Having had to put up with him as my Senator I certianly don't want him as my President. His daughter didn't blow her brains out for any old reason.

Bush has pretty well shown that it doesn't take brains to be president, so anyone could be tossed in at this point...

I actually have said Fred Thompson should run for about 8 years. I remember talking to my mom about that long ago.

He can be Edwards VP. Make sure the the dems get NM 5 electoral votes that Kerry couldn't get. Maybe get AZ for the dem if McCain isn't on the GOP ticket. Also his backwetness can maybe grab Florida for the dems. Bush only won by 300,000 in 2004 and part of that was because hispanics liked Bush for some strange reason. You can't say that any GOP nominee has an inroad with hispanics. So more hispanic would vote DEM anyways in 2008 and adding Richardson would get even more to vote dem. Might be just enough to make up the difference.

I tend to vote democrat in most elections, but man, they make some stupid decisions when it comes to their choice of presidential candidates - esp. if they are seriously considering giving the nomination to Hillary, who is a white woman (unfortunately this just won't fly in the USA - not for another decade at least - let's face reality) and not even very well-liked in her own party.
