OK, I realized everyone might not be as old as me, and thought I was asking A1R3K to actually "tell it" when it's just an old saying that means "you're 100% correct ;) I would never ask anyone to name names on a board - that's what person to person is for :) |

take this woman for example. Not a part of the business, makes negative posts 100% of the time, and thinks people going to seminars want to waste their time hearing from has beens. |

And For everyone... I just want to once again state for the record, I had NOTHING to do with the selection of panelists for this panel... CCBill / Phoenix Forum execs did that. Personally if I had any control over who got to be on this panel I would have selected differently. |
I missed all the Toastmasters meetings we were supposed to attend when I was with MCI so I HATE talking in front of a room full of people!!
Plus I've always been and always will be just a little person in the biz :) (with a big butt........) |

I also thank CCbill for making the effort. |

I wouldn't waste one minute of my time listening to you in a seminar setting. I guess the selectors of speakers were your trolls who voted for you.:1orglaugh |

Jay, Just an fyi, I dropped out of this seminar. So if you had suggestions for better selections (as you mentioned earlier), I think you should contact CCBill. I am always available to answer questions in regards to Weg, our marketing and our product development; However for this panel, I don't see myself as a good fit. As I said before, I was under the assumption that this was a discussion involving viral products / consumers / money made with blogs and syndication / etc. Good luck on everything and I hope it ends up serving everyone well. The Phoenix Forum is a leader among leaders, I look forward to seeing everyone. |

I think the Phoenix Forum does a good job selecting speakers and organizing a show that is as business driven as possible. What they do isn't easy and I am looking forward to it once again this year. |

I feel the same way about a few speakers on other seminars as well. I've been organizing seminars for Cybernet Expo for going on 5 years... I have my way of doing things... Phoenix Forum has theirs. Neither is 100% correct. It is what it is. |
Quote:
first of all, you have been asked to participate and your hurting the seminar by saying that it could have been set up better rather than helping it i dont see what that statement gained you versus what it cost, just expected a little more professionality from a guy that helps organize competing shows just struck me as a pretty pussy thing to say, when you got a little pushback, "oh i had nothing to do with it, i would have done it differently" as for your experience with cybernet, since you brought it up, last years show was the worse run/planned show i had ever been to, all around, so your mention of that did not gain you much ground |

Well said, LAJ --thanks!

I'd like to contribute by saying that there is another tier to personality based marketing over nick, antics, and style - one can build a reputation and name for themselves by becoming well known for their area of expertise and having the ability to communicate that knowledge, help others, and showing a path of being sucessful at it. By being resourceful, ones name can become well known. But this takes effort, time, and a level of professionalism beyond just board postings and 'looks' to become well known. The ones that are paying attention will always think of your name first when the topic of who is knowledable about that field and will always come to you when the time is right.

Seminars suck balls.
Seminars are a waste of quality sleeping time. If you need to go to a seminar to learn shit, or better yet, If you think your going to learn something at a seminar, then its probably time to find another line of work. |

Wow Steve, that is a pretty fucking exaggerated account of what Jay posted. I agree completely with Tony, it seems like you're way too sensitive here. Here's an idea... call me radical, but if you didn't like what Jay posted, why not simply call him and ask him PRIVATELY to explain what he meant and possibly reconsider it, rather then calling for a public lynch mob on GFY? |
Quote:
call me radical, he said it publicly, he should deal with it publicly, lightspeeds not the only person that read what he wrote, why should he get the private explanation? |

Well folks... I certainly meant no harm by my earlier statements, I'm not a vindictive person, but clearly feelings were hurt and unfortunately comments were misinterpreted. I essentially meant that every show is different which incidentally in my opinion is one of the strengths of the industry and why so many people attend all of the various shows and not just one.
I know how hard CCBill has been working on the Phoenix Forum and I know personally how hard it is to put a trade show together... so the last thing I want to do is be the cause of any bad feelings at the marketing seminar. My interests here are for the Phoenix Forum to be the best it possibly can be. I feel at this point it's probably best for me to recuse myself as moderator of the marketing panel. Thanks to CCBill for providing me with the opportunity in the first place and I have no doubt they will find a great replacement moderator. So hopefully we've cleared this up now, and everyone can just concentrate on having a good time in Phoenix. See you all at the show. |
