About the only two shows I'd think about going to, are the Costa Rica bash or the Phoenix Forum, other than those I just don't feel a need to go to any. |

That's why you are a Big Woody Award winner 2007! Much love Steve, it's been cool to see you grow over the years. You deserve your success. For me, I always thought VIP area's excluded people too, but I throw some very high budget parties most of the time and as a marketing strategy to raise the money, I felt I needed to give my sponsors something extra special like VIP's for their guests. It definitely helped raise the money needed for some of my artists I've hired. When I do small budget parties, no need for VIP. But in all honesty, I prefer not to have VIP areas because it only causes political nightmares and makes people feel left out. Man is it a pain in the ass to get hit up for VIP (knowing your limited to how many you can fit in that area and your sponsors have most of those tickets) |
isnt alot of the party throwing ego and whose dick is biggest more than anything else? If the reason is for business, clickcash is huge and when was the last party they threw?

I tried to give someone a simple thank you kiss for always being such a joy to be around everytime I see them. Geesh, what a challenege...... :disgust

Deeprub and I always take people ( potential clients & current clients)
out for dinner or drinks. They have either helped or are helping make us what we are today.. and we appreciate them all :winkwink: :thumbsup |
man Sleezy you've gotten so thin, I got big respect for you.

We try to do as much as we can to give back ever since we started going to the shows. Now we throw the Costa Rica Bash and everyone loves it year after year.
I personally am always willing to give a big hug to anyone that needs it, I know it is not $$$$ but when it comes from the heart it is priceless !!! Kisses |

I've found that most companies sponsoring parties are more than willing to work with the hosts and other sponsors to make sure everyone's event gets good exposure. The Phoenix Forum has always been that way. I think that's why it has become such a successful show. |

We have have events and sponsored many aspects of many different shows over the years, and we will continue to do so in the future. Everyone knows that Homegrown Hospitality goes a long way and anyone and everyone is always welcomed. :)

Other than the "throwin-in" I do for some of the parties people here throw (hey D$) - I also always get together with some like-minded people I know like Greenguy etc and we open up our suites for the entire show for anyone who wants to learn traffic pushing, sales and search engine strategies - whether they are newbies or been around as long as we have, to trade ideas and enjoy a little company, food and drinks - been doing this at every show since 2001 that Ive been to as a little way to give back
|
I have. Ragecash has sponsored events and sponsored shows. Shane's World will as well. It's only fair to give when you receive.
|
Since I've been to many shows I try to help be social and introduce around the people who might not have been to any conventions and don't feel comfortable yet.
|
if i get invited to shit i'm cool with it, otherwise i don't track people down to go. i figure if they want me there, i'd know already. life is too short to worry about if people think you're cool or not i guess. i didn't learn this overnight.

Well, as an affiliate who does a small to moderate amount of business, I do make an attempt to do some work when I get home for the sponsors that showed us a good time, and make sure we have good coverage of their program.
What i've found from past years though is that I come home with a lot of business cards with people's names on the backs etc, and they don't get much use. This time around I'm going to try and nail some more concrete things down that we can act on (deliverables) and have a plan of action to come home with. We can't afford to throw a big party, but I can try to make sure we do our part on promises we make at the shows, and my goal this time around is to be better at that. So if anyone is throwing a party that would like a serious affiliate to attend, please hit us up. I'm not winging it again, we're going to plan this one out. We've been in business for 5 years, had a great 2006 and are working hard for 2007, with a new project in hand ready for PHX. Make contact! ICQ: 1209684 |
I've helped out other webmasters when they were having a variety of personal problems, usually financial. Maybe that doesn't exactly "help the industry" or "give back to the masses", but it did give a few people the help they needed to get back into the game. Thats my small part for the time being.
|
I do what i can ... I used to sponsor more things but know i just tend to try to buy more dinners and drinks for people. attend the events and try not to be a freeloader .. just do whatever i can to make the events fun
|
Its hard to even find webmasters who are appretiative of the things sponsors do for them. It seems every webmasters wants more, more, more and doesn't even have the courtesy to say thank you. Its nice to see the tables turn on a few occasions when webmasters actually thank the people that pay their bills. Here's to your numerous events sleazy, have a great weekend and see you in a week :)

In No other industry, could a green as grass company suck down cocktails with the best and biggest, and be made to feel like you belong. That wonderful begining, turned into Coffee Talk at YP, our way of repaying the hospitality shown us, without having to mortage our house, to pay a bar bill. 6 years in mainstream toys, and I never got past the lobby of Tyco. Less than a year in adult, and there's Presents! http://www.dearmadame.com/images/hom...w_box_04_b.jpg That's why I'll take the time to e mail a bad link, or send a heads up to a vendor who hasn't noticed he's getting attention on a board thread. You don't have to be a big player, to pay it forward. :pimp |

Damn, Scott... I have to hand it to you. You look like a completely different person. Off of this picture alone, http://www.fubarwebmasters.com/galle...202/z03206.jpg I wouldn't even recognize it was you under her. Hats off to the weight loss. |
I went to the Amateur Bash in Vegas 2006.
When I arrived (as a webmaster/attendee) I noticed an alarming thing. There was no beer and it was only 10pm! I found someone with a car (I think it was Nubiles people) and we headed off to the store. I paid for a lot of beer. I don't remember how much we bought... But it was a couple of hundred dollars... $250 or more... For some reason I have $400 in my head. Then they paid for the hard alcohol. Jager, Vodka, etc... The whole time they thought I was a fellow sponsor and were shocked to shit when they found out I was an affiliate buying beer for a party. I got a lot of thank yous. Then some girl friend of one sponsor sees me grabbing 4 beers for my GF and I to hold double stacked and she flips out on me. She starts going off on her boyfriend about how this whole party sucks because these fucking affiliates are just mooching off of him and that he needs to start kicking people like me out so the true money makers can get enough alcohol. I got a pretty good laugh at that. She didn't like me laughing so she went off on me... Ohh well... Even when you give back, you still get shit. |
this thread makes me happy :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

So spending the money was a no brainer... It was just the GF of someone popping off to me right after I got back, restocked shit and all that made me laugh.. Though I was a bit peeved by it, I chose to laugh it off because the irony was... well... Ironic to the core? I enjoyed myself fully, gave a lot of free info to people who later paid me back in different ways... made some new connections.. got to see people I old read about... Got to see some pretty funny shit... BP4L to Vegas cops... that was classic. I got to meet a lot of people I only knew by nickname on GFY even though I'd done business with them for several grand either as an affiliate or consultant of one kind or another.... I also would like to thank Uno for sending the tickets to my hotel room. Damn convenient of you! And it was a pleasure meeting you finally. And... finally.. I won't be in Phoenix so perhaps a later show.. sucks too... this one is the solo girl show of the century... |
