Or get a ferret, they're cute fuckers and don't chew stuff, and you can take them out for walks... Girls love em. hehe

Ferrets are so cute. I want one, but my dogs would hate it.

what are your thoughts on finding a dog that is housebroken and is guaranteed to not fuck up my place?

Get a rot, tough on the outside nice on the inside. Kind of like me :winkwink:

Doberman all the way

We have a female red Dobie, one of the sweetest dogs we have ever owned, and will fuck anyone's shit up that is stupid enough to try to get into our back yard or house. We rescued her from a place in California. She is loyal, affectionate, very smart and a fabulous watchdog. Short hair is a plus too. Granted we trained her on a Dogtra shock collar, but in our opinion it is one of the best training tools for dogs like this. No matter what you get, you have to have the time to correct any faults the dog may have and train it correctly...

A Bassett Hound would probably be the easiest type of dog breed to take care of. The first two years of any dog will be the hardest. But after the dog goes through adolesence a bassett is fairly easy. They don't even care about going for walks. However, you also don't want the dog to become overweight either.

Shock collars are only recommended as a last resort by most dog trainers and behaviorists. You can ruin your relationship with your dog the minute you use one of those things. A dog will lose trust in their owner if those things are abused. I do think they are great for very severe cases. But it is the LAST thing a dog owner should try. Unfortunately there are many people who will buy one of those without trying other methods first. I saw a dog once that wore one who couldn't settle in one place in fear of being shocked.

Check your local newspaper for people looking for a new home for an adult dog. You can also check local shelters and the SPCA. Many dogs don't have homes, why not help one out?

:thumbsup

Always had one or more dogs - they got to be among the most travelled dogs ever and flown em wherever we went (not that they liked flying too much!!) and all from dog homes.

Ya can trust a dog :pimp

No dog will fuck your place with a proper training.I had puppies, and they didn't do anything bad.You are going to buy them toys for chewing, bones, wood sticks and stuff, after that you are going to pay attention to what they do, and for a week or two, they will start to u8nderstand what they are not allowed to do!!If you take dog from a shelter, nobody can guarantee you that the dog will not chew your carpet or shoe...That's the risk you have to take. But still i recomend you to take rescued dog, they are more gratefull and loving, and know how to appreciate their owner!

Don't get a puppy. There's too much work to train them. And they pee and shit inside your house.

Here's my and my gf's dog.
It's a rottweiler and a... pudel-mix.

Dogs are cool, but its a lot like having a kid... have to spend time with them everyday etc. The biggest pain in the ass is usually traveling. Pets make going out of town anywhere a pain in the ass. You definitely lose some independence.

Check and see if there are any private animal shelters in your area. Theres one here called Project HALO that lets you foster dogs, maybe theres something similar where you are. You basically get to take a dog home, keep them temporarily as your own. They'll usually provide you with food and leashes etc. They do this partly to get people attached and hopefully adopt out the dog, and also as information gathering so they can find out how the dog is in a home, or around other pets, and really as a way to get them out of their cages for a while. Its a good way to see if your prepared to have a dog fulltime.

That's quite a dog you had there. I've never heard of this breed before. I wonder if they are more popular in Europe than here in the US? I imagine they are related to the Shi-Tzu and the Llasa Apso.
