Dont get me wrong. I believe that we all have a right to bear arms. But I do think that we should do the same thing with guns that we do with a car.
We dont just sell you a car and say go ahead and drive.
We make sure that you know the law and go though tests that say that you a deemed to be safe to use what could be a deadly machine in public.
WE should do the same with guns. Thats all I am saying. It will not stop all of this. but would cut down on it.

Latest news 29 dead. Biggest mass shooting in U.S. history. 7:15 this morning first shooting. One fatality at that point. Shooter then went to Norris hall, and then killed 20+. Shooter dead. Not all dead are students.

Maybe as much as 32 dead according to FBI.

Maybe an incident off campus that spilled onto the campus that led to shootings. All weapons were handguns, semi-automatic handguns.

One shooter, possibly the result of an off campus incident where a
shooting occured.

Police 'believe' not confirmed that the shooter took his own life.

If everyone had a gun MORE people would be dead, but the vast majority do not only not know how to fire a gun properly they also have bad aim. Not to mention the Dirty Harrys among them and people just firing hysterically.

Gun safety and maintenance? People don't even take those classes now? Even suggesting one should take a gun safety and maintenance course before getting gun will get the NRA is a hissy.

Gun control is why this shit can happen. Can you imagine if this wasn't a "gun free" zone? Some of those students would have had their own guns. But since gun control laws prevented that, the good guys got shot. Bad guys don't obey gun control laws apparently.

granted, the shooter eventually has to reload, but there are probably not that many heroes willing to take one for the team while they wait for him to get to that point

Anthony 04-16-2007 10:53 AM

Jesus H. Christ...

This is just unreal.

Quote:

The students and faculty were barricading themselves in their classrooms after what one person described as an Asian student wearing a vest opened fire.

The shooter was "wearing a vest covered in clips was just unloading on their door, going from classroom to classroom … they said it never seemed like it was going to stop and there was just blood all over," Harrison said.

If many of the students had guns more people would have died. It was fucking mass mayhem at that school. When the shooter entered the classroom I assure you as soon as the first shot was fired everyone started running like crazy to protect themselves, the chances of hitting the shooter and no one else is slim. Keep in mind someone else could come running by and see you shoot the actual shooter and assume you are the shooter and then shoot you, and then someone would see him shoot you and then shoot him. Could have been a lot worse if many of the students carried guns.

Plain and simple guns are out of control in the states, the law in the constitution was made ages ago when there was not a LARGE LARGE military that we have today, and there was still a large threat of many people invading us soil to claim that land there own. If no one could get a gun, why would we need one to protect ourselves.

March 13, 1996 -- Dunblane, Scotland

Armed with four handguns, Thomas Hamilton entered an elementary school in the small Scottish town of Dunblane and killed 16 children, all ages 5 and 6, and a 44-year-old kindergarten teacher before killing himself. Eight other children and two adults were wounded in the attack.

That was pretty much the reason I posted that comment. The sad truth, is CNN is loving this incident. Reporters have no morality. This is gold to them. The Imus story was dead 3 days after it happenned, yet they streched it for a week.

Why? Because people are sick of hearing yet another Iraq failure story. Now, CNN is foaming at the mouth with this new story. Weeks of shooting news, comparisons to Columbine, and other similar style shootings. By the evening, they'll have the perfect tagline for the tragedy, with a whole week of programming laid out, ensuring you do not miss one detail of this tragedy.

By July, the made for TV movie will be out.

Just plain sick what the media does.

Problem with a 9mm round is that they can 'travel' meaning
they go through one body and go through another and etc.

That was the argument years ago in NY when cops were wanting
9 millies instead of those .38s. .38 slug would knock a man down but
not always kill him. I've seen men hit with a .38 round, get up and
kick someone's ass or draw their own gun.

9mm rounds richochet too. The gunman had the element of surprise.

He may have shot most of his victims in the back. Not face to face
to see them suffer.

When people are that bunched up, a gunman with an automatic can
let off a clip in a matter of seconds. One's first instinct is to run or
hit the dirt.

Let's say he had 9 in the clip and 1 round chambered. That clip is
emptied in like 3 seconds. That's the problem with automatics.
You spend all day loading clips, go to the target range and in
a matter of a few minutes you've emptied the clips and are back
to loading them fuckers again.

This killer had a choice range of control. What his true motives
are will be the stuff that talk shows are made of.

Pandora's box has already been open, you can't stop the proliferation of firearms. By ensuring that citizens with the legal right to carry firearms has shown to be the biggest detriment to crime in the US.

Florida has a reciprocal CCW license with Virginia, if you pass backround tests, you will get a concealed permit (CCW). The laws are similliar, you cannot carry onto a school campus.

Which doesn't matter one bit to a physcho who decides he wants to shoot everyone dead.

Why do you think shootings happen in places that you can't carry a gun in to protect yourself?!

Schools
Goverment Buildings
Post Offices

No one there can shoot back.

It's only a matter of time. It's ALWAYS only a matter of time. Gun laws or not, it'll happen again when someone REALLY wants to do it. At best it'll slow down the process.

Ask the person who proposed the law and I'll bet anything even THEY would admit that.

You cannot carry a gun in a school or college unless you are a federal agent. So your theory is wrong.

And you've never been in that situation, every time something like this happens, everyone would of had a gun, everyone would have stopped him before he killed more etc etc.
