If you are going to have kids remember, being a mother first is the most important job there is. :thumbsup

Haha this thread is funny on so many levels but I guess I understand the culture shes coming from. Western girls or Asian girls born here wouldn't even ask you for their permission or opinion.

I'm surprised though that her parents were cool with her marrying someone thats not korean, heck in college korean girls wouldn't date you at ALL unless you were korean.

they love me:)

they werent too sure about me until i went over there

then it was all good and showing me off to the relatives and friends..lol

im learning Korean as well, so i can have more then one word sentences going on with her mom.

aimeesweet 04-19-2007 03:15 PM

It sounds to me like she needs an outlet for her creativity and energy... maybe she could take an art or cooking class... or as mentioned earlier do some volunteer work.

Everyone needs to have a sense of purpose, it makes life more meaningful.

Timbo 04-19-2007 03:19 PM

Brad, Brad, Brad....have you learned nothing yet, from the teachings of Timbo san? Let her do what she wants. Eventually, she will anyway.

LexiLexxx 04-19-2007 03:23 PM

allow and let............her do what makes her happy.

yes...you are usually right on the money with this stuff

true..i should let her do something

czarina 04-19-2007 03:29 PM

she should get a part time job. Working people are more interesting than stay at home wives

selena 04-19-2007 03:48 PM

I personally don't have a problem with the 'permission' bit. Whatever works for you two is what works.

As someone who was denied getting a job many years ago, I will say that denying someone that can be dangerous. It eventually led to the downfall of my marriage.

The cirumstances were kind of similiar; it wasn't necessary for me to work, and we had no children at the time. But it can put someone in a...funny...space to not having anything they can truly call their own. Not money, not sense of self, not the roof over their head.

You seem to be a guy like my ex who would say that everything you have is hers. But if she doesn't feel that...
if she doesn't feel a sense of purpose and have the mental...dignity? (I can't think of the word I want), then what you saying it is hers doesn't matter at all.

I'd let her, where I you. Or, if not, as Timbo said, she may eventually do it anyway. :)

KustomKowgurl 04-19-2007 04:49 PM

Haha! He said "LET"! hahaha! "Let" would not go over well with most girls I know :)

sherie 04-19-2007 04:54 PM

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this "let" bullshit lol 2007 called, they wanted me to tell you that it's not the 40's-50's anymore :P

LiveDose 04-19-2007 04:55 PM

I agree with Elli, at the least encourage her to volunteer.

sniperwolf 04-19-2007 05:38 PM

well i guess you should allow her on what she wants to do...since you don't have kids yet, i think she have to enjoy first her life without kids..

Huggles 04-19-2007 05:42 PM

I would introduce her to Mr Fist and tell her she can ask him any questions she wants about going outside of the house, but she has to be prepared for the answer(s).

I can't say i have experience with women outside of north america but still, doesn't everyone have dreams of achieving something besides taking care of someone?

xlogger 04-19-2007 06:24 PM

What do you mean "should i"? If she wants to should be able to, you should stfu and let her do what she wants.

Control = when she realises you like her more than she likes you.

How long as she been in Canada?

Goodings Media 04-19-2007 09:47 PM

shit, my missus earns more than me right now (although not MUCH more, we're both poor ass students) and I wouldn't change that for the world!

Get that hoe out on the streets earning some green! :)
jokes!

Seriously, if she likes the whole web thing, make her an e-commerce site.

This reminds me of one of my mates mom. His dads the real bread winner, but since him and his brothers grew up she was a bit bored and so thought she may as well be productive with her time, but still needed to stay in the home. So she started doing those "card crafts things (assembling intricate cards - not recommended shit money)

The she got into the e-commerce thing and now runs a pretty successful Ebay store. I think their last family holiday was 90% thanks to her online pass-time. :)

Oh c'mon are people really THAT insecure these days? First of all....if someone wants to cheat they are going to cheat...PERIOD....and they should not be with that person in the first place!

If you tie a person down and tell them what they can and can't do they will find a way to resent you and go behind your back even faster! I think he has the right idea in giving her suggestions......it sounds like they have a good give and take relationship on both ends.....:2 cents:

what about her taking over some of the flea market stuff?

babalapoulos 04-20-2007 02:51 AM

Dude ... you can't make, tell, stop, or demand that she do or not do anything.

So why is this question even on the forum?

You're a single human being. No more powerful than your wife.

Decisions like that are her choice. She can do what she wants.

AK 04-20-2007 11:49 AM

my wife works too. she cannot just not doing anything at home. she likes days off here and there but i think it is healthy that she has her job and i have mine.
maybe when the time is right, she can start some stay home business.

oh .. and yeah we have two kids...

so far so good for us.

Sharky 04-20-2007 11:52 AM

Let her get a job.

If she's like my wife, she will bitch that she wants a job/responsibility/her own money/etc.. then when she has it she will bitch that she's so busy and has no time to herself! lol

Man my wife would much rather be out shopping and spending money. Only prob is there is never enough! haha. Instead of cutting back on spending, she wants to find more $$.

If you don't need the cash, have her volunteer. It's a great way to give back to the world and she will meet wonderful people!

Tanya_AWP 04-20-2007 12:07 PM

Ask her what kind of job she wants to do...encourage her to do what she's passionate about...
