Anyone mention the Circle Jerks? |
Lots of killer bands mentioned. I could never pick five.
We own a domain that gets emo type in traffic looking for a lame emo band (they own the dot net). A christian one at that. I think its time to educate some punks. |
and now
the Bottom Five go |
GWAR!$@
|
1. The Ramones (for starting it all)
2. Sex Pistols (for getting away with it) 3. Cramps (for making it fun) 4. Big Black (for putting it in perspective) 5. GG Allin (for making it dangerous) |

I remember a dream show with GWAR and The Meatment opening in a sweaty little club........totally insane and one of those great shows where the bands hang out with everyone, drinking beers afterwards...... |
i dont know how someone can like something so poor musically..
punk music simple hurt my ears go listen something that is worth |

And on a side note. It always frightens me when someone cant hear the melody in punk. |
GG Allin was crap. Fuckin sick fucker.
Anyhow, I have a couple additions: GBH Angry Samoans Black Flag |
Oldschool GREEN DAY takes on everyone. Then they released Nimrod, and died. Oldschool Offspring was great too. Now both those bands are pussy bands.

Punk fucking sucks. A bunch of green haired freaks who can't sing, can't play their instruments worth shit and they all sound the same and have the same annoying beat.

What about Sham 69..they have been mentioned once in this thread... Jimmy Purcey is my neighbour!!

Trying to put them in order is impossible, so many good ones, but the ramones, and black flag definately have to be on there.

Someone finally mentioned The Damned. :thumbsup
Damned Damned Damned was the first punk album I ever owned. Even it was 10 years after it was released. I also liked chron gen. If anyone has any chron gen mp3's I would love to get a hold of them. All my vinyl is in storage otherwise I'd post some pics :/ I have some great old school stuff. |
I seen someone say old school greenday........
How the fuck can greenday be old school? What are you 18? If you want an old school green day go listen to the band Pinhead Gunpowder. |

Punk Rules.. I was living in Huntington Beach, Ca. at the height of the punk era.. I saw tons of great gigs.. I partied with my cousin (a local pot dealer) at the former bassist from S/Distorations pad on the beach. There was a lot of good bands, I liked MDC and Dead Kennedys along with the ones you listed. |
Nobody's has herd of the the Thug's Golden Filth ? One of the clasic punk albums :2 cents:

UK Subs Early Stranglers THE DAMNED - Machine Gun Ettiquette Joy Division - Not really punk but in the same vein Stiff Little Fingers Fear I could pick 100 more. Those were the days. I feel sorry for the kids today, all they have is this gay poseur Limp Offspring Snoop corporate BS. How the world has changed. |

BTW I have to mention that this new band The Hives that everyone raves about are nothing but a two bit rip off of Metal Urbain.
|

1. subhumans 2. clash 3. screaching weasles 4. the queers 5. exploited |
Anything that appears on MTV is not punk, it is now the realm of Top 40.
Punk is not at the mall. Punk is not a 16 year old girl with Blink written on her backpack. |
Nobody likes Bad Religion ?

Take it from me, there are very few genres of music i don't listen to. My musical tastes are broad. Anything from blues to classical. Hell, i was listening to my John Williams CD just yesterday (Classical guitarist, amazing stuff). You might not like punk music, but to say it all sounds the same is just stupid. |
damn, I forgot my own musical forrays into punk music :)
The Corpse Phuckers (actually we were closer to grind and speed than pure punk) Fascination The Retard Nuns Sadistic Intent Bloody War Pigs From Hell was pure speed metal, so doesn't really count; Innocent Rage and Strange Ways were my forray into hair metal.... |
