Ask him if he has any vinly he wants to get rid of. ANTHING.

Ok I will drop a note round courtsey of my friend Mark, I do not really speak to the bloke. Last time I saw him he was walking into his house with a gigantic Sea Gull he had found injured.

Fletch XXX 08-18-2002 02:31 PM

ROTFL - Dave Matthews! LOL. Now that is some funny shit.

Honeyslut 08-18-2002 03:16 PM

I prefer Rock music and leather jackets ! Nice thread though !

heymatty 08-18-2002 03:45 PM

Someone finally mentioned The Damned. :thumbsup

Damned Damned Damned was the first punk album I ever owned. Even it was 10 years after it was released.

I also liked chron gen. If anyone has any chron gen mp3's I would love to get a hold of them.

All my vinyl is in storage otherwise I'd post some pics :/
I have some great old school stuff.

meRx 08-18-2002 04:10 PM

I seen someone say old school greenday........
How the fuck can greenday be old school? What are you 18?
If you want an old school green day go listen to the band
Pinhead Gunpowder.

Im talking about the bands that you can spot instantly, even if it was some unreleased bulgarian underground bootleg you would be able to spot them instantly. Bands whos releases you devoured and will scream from beginning to end while you drive down the road even to this day.

1) Bad Brains
2) Misfits
3) Youth of Today even though its probably more core than punk
4) Ramones
5) Social Distortion

That was harder than I thought it would be.

So... lets hear em.

You are totally correct!
Punk Rules.. I was living in Huntington Beach, Ca. at
the height of the punk era.. I saw tons of great gigs..
I partied with my cousin (a local pot dealer) at the former
bassist from S/Distorations pad on the beach.

There was a lot of good bands, I liked MDC and Dead Kennedys
along with the ones you listed.

Nobody's has herd of the the Thug's Golden Filth ? One of the clasic punk albums :2 cents:

ahhh, them were the days:glugglug

Yep..I met Animal from Anti Nowhere way back when. His on stage collapse in Vancouver was fantastic.

UK Subs
Early Stranglers
THE DAMNED - Machine Gun Ettiquette
Joy Division - Not really punk but in the same vein
Stiff Little Fingers
Fear

I could pick 100 more. Those were the days.

I feel sorry for the kids today, all they have is this gay poseur Limp Offspring Snoop corporate BS. How the world has changed.

yup, sadder still....the guys in the Offspring are buying mansions while Tesco Vee is probably having to shoot up and worship Satan in a small run down one bedroom apartment and gets the occasional blow job from a punk girl with a tongue pierce.....

Shoplifter 08-18-2002 04:52 PM

BTW I have to mention that this new band The Hives that everyone raves about are nothing but a two bit rip off of Metal Urbain.

T[H]C 08-18-2002 05:16 PM

here is my other top 5...
1. subhumans
2. clash
3. screaching weasles
4. the queers
5. exploited

[Labret] 08-18-2002 05:17 PM

Anything that appears on MTV is not punk, it is now the realm of Top 40.

Punk is not at the mall. Punk is not a 16 year old girl with Blink written on her backpack.

Evil Chris 08-18-2002 05:17 PM

Nobody likes Bad Religion ?

Bad Religion are gods. One of the few punk bands that has actually managed to evolve their sound in a way that it's not cliched. Love that band.

Punk fucking sucks. A bunch of green haired freaks who can't sing, can't play their instruments worth shit and they all sound the same and have the same annoying beat.
All sound the same? Are you deaf, or just stupid? :winkwink:
Take it from me, there are very few genres of music i don't listen to. My musical tastes are broad. Anything from blues to classical. Hell, i was listening to my John Williams CD just yesterday (Classical guitarist, amazing stuff). You might not like punk music, but to say it all sounds the same is just stupid.

SykkBoy 08-18-2002 05:54 PM

damn, I forgot my own musical forrays into punk music :)

The Corpse Phuckers (actually we were closer to grind and speed than pure punk)
Fascination
The Retard Nuns
Sadistic Intent

Bloody War Pigs From Hell was pure speed metal, so doesn't really count; Innocent Rage and Strange Ways were my forray into hair metal....

fnet 08-18-2002 06:03 PM

residents
dead kennedies
minor threat
joneses
sex pistols

i hate top five lists. stop sucking john cusack's dick.

SilverTab 08-18-2002 06:07 PM

Punk is one thing, but I think punkrock is another... i.e. Bad Religion..I see them more as a punkrock band than a punk band(like Sex Pistols, Exploited etc...).
If I had to make a top 5 punkrock bands I think it would be:

1-Nofx
2-LagWagon
3-Craig's Brother (1st album is just too good)
4-No use for a name
5-Propagandhi

hmm top 5 isn't enough tough... :Graucho

faytl 08-18-2002 06:34 PM

This is basically a list of my favourite bands, the ones with asterisks are the ones that could be considered punk and would fall into the topic of this thread.

1. *Operation Ivy
2. Mad Caddies
3. Sublime
4. *Dead Kennedys
5. *Rancid
6. *NOFX
7. *Propaghandi

The list could go on... Personally I cannot stand old english punk, e.g. Sex Pistols...

Gotta love'em just for "Ska sucks" LOL

But the whole record (how to clean everything) is just AWSOME....Lyrics are damn good, so is the music...and they're only 3....The guitarist/singer does a hell of a job!
