people keep saying 'lucky' when they see domain sales for big money. nothing lucky about it, they had vision that those of us who didn't make big money in domains didn't have. it was all there for the taking for anybody - look what he typed - he paid $8,000 in 2002 - there are a thousand webmasters here on GFY who were around in 2002. $650,000 grand on an $8,000 investment. Did you have $8,000 in 2002? If you answer yes - YOU DUMMY!!!! :1orglaugh
i still haven't learned my lesson with domains - there was a guy on here only a couple of months ago selling a domain. I really liked the domain - for a project I have in mind and long term I think the domain would be worth a lot to somebody even if I never did anything with it. So the guy posted he wanted $2400. So I hit him up on ICQ and talked to him and I offered him $2K - he thought about it and said he'd get back to me if he didnt get a better offer. So I kept thinking about it all night and was going to hit him up the next day and pay his price, next day I rush over to whois.sc and - already gone. i'm a dummy.
the Dollars.com thing I knew woudn't work - webmasters are simple people, all the jargon and sophistication of that thing meant nothing to them. nobody trusts their traffic to a third party/go between.
