I have almost 3000 names. I believe my names are worth several million, at what point others will agree is the question. Rick did not think so as he made me no offers. I personally would not have paid $400k for Iran.com or buckhead.com (buckhead.com unless it is developed is not going to do much I don't think, unless he re-sells it to the city for a million) it's all perception. I know one thing every name I have ever sold for a decent chunk of cash, I was told I would never get that price and I always got more than they said I would ever get. Now some times I wish I had those names back I would get 2-3 times that now. But that's the way it works sell it or keep it you can't do both. Maybe I should joint venture or lease them? I'll tell you one thing this selling names based on traffic value alone is coming to a close. The .com market is coming back big. I wrote about this on my website on the front page Cashcows.com about 5 or 6 years ago. About the domain flipping. |
impressive ROI congrats!

I love the way people throw around the word "luck" or "lucky" as if Rick just stumbled into this, and into his success. WHO, WHA? WHERE AM I? WHAT IS ALL THIS MONEY FOR???? |
I remember a while back I tried selling a domain on a board for ~$1,000 and naturally I was met with "rofl that domain isn't worth that much responses". A couple months later it sold for $10,000 on afternic :thumbsup

Thats a nice payday! :thumbsup

people keep saying 'lucky' when they see domain sales for big money. nothing lucky about it, they had vision that those of us who didn't make big money in domains didn't have. it was all there for the taking for anybody - look what he typed - he paid $8,000 in 2002 - there are a thousand webmasters here on GFY who were around in 2002. $650,000 grand on an $8,000 investment. Did you have $8,000 in 2002? If you answer yes - YOU DUMMY!!!! :1orglaugh
i still haven't learned my lesson with domains - there was a guy on here only a couple of months ago selling a domain. I really liked the domain - for a project I have in mind and long term I think the domain would be worth a lot to somebody even if I never did anything with it. So the guy posted he wanted $2400. So I hit him up on ICQ and talked to him and I offered him $2K - he thought about it and said he'd get back to me if he didnt get a better offer. So I kept thinking about it all night and was going to hit him up the next day and pay his price, next day I rush over to whois.sc and - already gone. i'm a dummy. the Dollars.com thing I knew woudn't work - webmasters are simple people, all the jargon and sophistication of that thing meant nothing to them. nobody trusts their traffic to a third party/go between. |
Hey Rick while your cashed up I have a few high end domains I thinking of selling to fund some new projects. ICQ 77762980
