Some of the new programs have niches, content and features that are awesome while some of the old timers are just doing things the "old way" and happy to get whatever scraps they still can.

Of all the major program owners I dealt with in the beginning, I can only think of a handful that are even still hands on with their programs. Most are enjoying mainstream income/playing/retired while paying someone else to run the adult stuff.

What are they doing in mainstream? What are they selling? Are they operating mainstream affiliate programs?

Why do "new timers" get upset when "old timers" think they are elite? Let them feel good...it's nice to be kind to old people.. :winkwink:

really? Well what happened to the tens of thousands of others, no longer here, who started when I did? You know, when it was so easy. :winkwink:

Some folks may feel elite - who cares? But doubt it is generally a feeling of being elite.

There are "old timers" who literally made this industry - some are well-known, others not generally known. They fought court battles and struggles before the net was a gleam in Tim Lee's eye. They initiated the concept of adult stores, around which a whole industry developed - from manufacturing in Asia, video production to print media. They all ran "real world" businesses and employed many people - and a fair number of these business are now quoted on various stock exchanges, tho probably more are still privately owned.

The internet is simply another 'store front' for the adult industry and started about a decade ago. It's hard to compare people who have been managing companies in the adult industry for, sometimes 40 years or more and who have went thru various legal battles - and survived.

When the net is only around 10 years old, it's hard to see there are any "old timers" in the online adult industry apart from those who existed prior to that time.

If anything, there is a blatant difference in the way business is done. There are plenty good "noobs" (we are all "noobs" when it comes to the net) with a clue, but far more clearly lack any business accumen and who would have no hope in hell of either raising finance or running a bricks and mortar business.

Maybe that is the difference between the "elite" and "non elite"?? :)

That's not an "old timer" Scotty - that is a crook :thumbsup

Where there is possible abuse, you can always trust human scum to step in, cause problems and be the cause of legislation.

You're only elite when you wipe you ass with $100 bills.

Many younger generations have learned skills, and grasp what it takes, but dont have the experience or business sense to make it all work. Especially when you have 5-30 employees depending on you to pay their rent and feed their kids and provide their health insurance plans.

Precisely :thumbsup

Old-timers know and understand patience and momentum. Youngsters tend to get frustrated if they're not rolling in green within the first 72 hours.

What many n00bs fail to realize is that when some of us started we did not even have forums like this with which we could consult with others, get tips or conduct business. As someone mentioned above, scanning the counters was how you found the goldmines.

Elite? Perhaps not. Survivor? Unquestionably.

FakeNick 07-27-2007 12:33 AM
