As of this year i've been vegetarian for 20 years. At this point in my life it is just my "diet" and meat doesn't even register as food to my brain. I'm happy, healthy, and can cook pretty well.
On the flip side i could care less what other people eat. It's none of my business. I don't push people to eat "healthy" - I think thats a decision people need to make on their own. As long as people are eating a well balanced diet and paying attention to what goes in their food / what they are eating then I don't see a problem. :2 cents: |
Just some pale, weak, nerdy and unhealthy vegetarians for the ones who like to stereotype:

My health would never allow myself to be a vegetarian. However my diet if one wishes to call it that is for the most part local now. If it is not within 120 to 180 miles of my house it is typically never bought, and most of it is within a much smaller radius of 30 miles. Of course there are many exceptions such as banana's which just naturally transport well. Whole spices, tea's and such.
Yet I have met my beef, I have laid my eyes on both the chickens and the eggs they produced. I pick out which pig I want and my fish is either caught locally or only bought from the fish guy on two days out of the week when he brings his catch in from the ocean. Vast majority of vegetables I have grown myself or I get at PYO farms. I know what medicines if any my animals have had, I know the types of fertilizers used if any and just about everything else. Right now I am basking in many veggies like tomatoes and the like which aside from those that I will dry or can, I will not eat out of season. I know soon though that my bounty of zucchini, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, corn, artichokes and other goodies will soon be replaced with kale, squash, gourds, broccoli, brussel sprouts, and other fall crops like lettuce again. I guess I eat what is considered a balanced and also local/seasonal diet like I think we were supposed to. |
Beef..it's what's for dinner

i'm not a vegetarian
but first i must see what i'm going to eat, it must be clean meat, no vains, no bullshit |
not a philosophical vegetarian, but my raw foods diet keeps me at about 90% vegetarian.
you do need proper protein levels for good health and meat is an easy way to do it, but eating lots of meat does have health drawbacks, better to stick with lean poultry and fish for meat. age 57, flat belly, BMI 21.5 |

if you buy private health insurance you should be aware that the unhealthy habits of other people directly impact YOUR cost of living. :2 cents: |
Vegetarian since 1997 :thumbsup
|
Most vegetarians I know simply don't eat meat because they don't like it. They don't like eating off a bone, the smell, the taste. Nothing to do with thinking its wrong. Whats wrong with just not eating something you don't like? I don't eat broccoli.. i hate the shit.

The farm animals cow/sheep/etc drink the run off water from the chemicals they spray on the crops. If anything, the animals would have a higher dosage of the chemicals :upsidedow But then again, I was never logical :( |
