it's basically a liability - production companies dont shoot it usually because the distributors tell them not to or they won't buy the products - so - if a producer wants to shoot it they can - but - if they want to sell it they can't sell it everywhere - we used to call it the european version because the market isnt as much of a risk for the more extreme content overseas from what I understand - it is always about the sales - legal is a bit of a strange animal and definately best to get a lawyer if it's your ass on the line.
