"support" does not mean that fsc will be running or influencing anything over on the content producer side. lets keep it real folks. i'm going back to my weekend.

mikesouth 09-09-2007 05:50 PM

And since you brought it up what did you pay Michelle Freeridge? She was there in 2006 as ED.

seeric 09-09-2007 06:07 PM

the reason several of us got upset in the meeting is because prior to the meeting we were contacted asking if the fsc could attend. we said no. we also said we didn't want any solicitation for support or mixing of the two entities. when the time came to nominate board members we literally felt blindsided as three people haggled in defense of the fsc and being a part of it. i then looked towards jeffery and stated. "i told you i didn't want any of this shit here." to me i took it as a sign of not having respect for the content producers wishes. we wanted the meeting to happen with no outside influence. we almost pulled it off. people can take it how they want it, and i'm pretty much done with it, as we did accomplish keeping the two seperate, but i was pretty pissed that our request to keep the meeting without influence one way or the other was not respected. if that was not the case, it sure the heck came off the way that many people in the room later relayed. it is important for the two groups to stay separate. that is not MY doing. the content producers do not want the fsc running or sitting on their board, plain and simple. no one can be mad at anyone about that. if you want an ally, sure you got it, but there isn't gonna be any of this sleeping in bed stuff going on.

Boyalley, I think you hit it pretty much right on the target.

Redrob, I think things are very, very clear here. The next and only crusade for the next couple of months for FSC should be GETTING THEIR OWN HOUSE IN ORDER. Get your membership structure figured out. Get your membership information up to date. Collect funds from people who owe for memberships, make sure that every who should renew has renewed, and generally get the organization in order.

If you cannot organize yourselves, why would you think you would be qualified to lead the crusade on piracy? There are plenty of people out there that want to give you money, and someone like Boyalley that raised 14k for you guys last year suddenly can't seem to even get the time of day. What's the scoop?

For as long as I have known the FSC, it has always been about 1 phone bill away from oblivion. Why would you guys be slow about collecting membership fees or make it hard for people to give you money?

You hit the nail on the head.

Compdoctor 09-09-2007 06:42 PM

I'm not with the bro's here on this board, but one has to ask, why are you supporting something that does not work? If a designer did not do the job time after time, would you use them? If a content provider did not produce the images/vids wanted after you paid them, would you use them again? Time for you guys to stand up and ask what the real deal is!

seeric 09-09-2007 06:47 PM

P.S.

I am getting a lot of credit for things that I don't deserve. I did not put all those people in that room, evolution did. When your bank account starts screaming from outside effects of things like piracy, it tends to motivate people.

For the last time, I WAS A VOICE! I am a PROMOTER. I have been for 15 years. I used to get paid by nightclubs to fill them up. This is much easier. Simple. Please stop giving me so much credit. This isn't necessarily about this thread. I understand that I am seen as the PIRACY MARTYR, but it just isn't so. There were 65 Piracy Martyrs in that room, they deserve ALL the credit for getting their asses in a room on a Wednesday night to discuss the issues affecting them.

Over and Out!

Who cares about the financials?

If the FSC succeeds in deep sixing 2257 it'll be okay with me if 90% of our donations were spent on whores and nose candy :)

If they fail, it won't much matter how honest they were.....we'll all be in deep shit.

You got a point and said like a true new yorker :)

Redrob 09-09-2007 07:05 PM

A1R3K,

I apologize if I in any way showed you lack of respect or disrespected your wishes.

It was my understanding that it was to be an open discussion of all options, ideas, and considerations. As the FSC did not moderate, control, or dominate the discussions, I thought all ideas were on the table for consideration. I am sorry that you did not like some of the opinions; but, that is one of the risks of an open discussion. Sometimes I don't agree with everything I hear; but, I will give every viewpoint equal consideration in such an important matter.

Most of the people in the room were FSC members or worked for companies that are FSC members. The FSC was very present in your audience of content producers. How could you expect it not to come up during deliberations?

When the lady from GAPA, not a content producer or distributor, stated her position for another organization outside the content producers, I felt justified in stating my personal opinion that we didn't need another outside organization looking for support and funding. I never said or implied that the FSC should in any way be in control of the content producers group.

Moreover, I didn't know that I would be nominated to be a laison to the content producers group. It came as a surprise to me as well. I will do whatever I can to support their efforts, leave the decisions to them, and be helpful when asked to help. If they don't want my help, I don't have a problem with their decision.

I am proud to have been a part of the Roundtable and I will continue to support your efforts to go after content thieves.

Respectfully,
Redrob

RawAlex 09-09-2007 07:34 PM

Rob, actually, GAPA is the sole creation of Sureflix Digital / Maleflixxx. They are brand new to the game as well (july 2007) and really don't appear to be any further ahead than anyone else. Effectively, it is the copyright chasing outreach of a content producer. They have some good ideas, but I suspect they will be very happy to part of a bigger whole, focused entirely on one subject and one subject only: Copyright infringements in all that forms.

I think everyone will be happy to have your personal support and the support of FSC on this issue. But FSC would be doing themselves a huge favor to position themselves as supporters of and "moral contributor" to the content producer anti-piracy efforts rather than tying up severly limited resources trying to pull ANOTHER heavy barge all alone.

From what I read it was pretty clear they only wanted content producers. It wasnt a open discussion it was for content producers only. FSC should focus on 2257 and getting their internal systems to function properly , win on that and then the industry can talk about doing other things. Thats job one.

why is it important?

becuase i want to make sure every dime i donate goes to the defense and not into some fucking crooks pocket.

thats why. idiot

I would like to add my two cents here.

Everyone bashing the FSC should chill a little IMO. Without them the govt would STEAM ROLL OVER US. Who would have fought 2257 over the last couple years ? What you think, we would have all come together and fought against it LOL. yeah right. The govt would have passed 100% of what they were trying to do and then some with out the FSC there to battle them every step of the way.

With that said, I wish the FSC would stick to just obscenity type issues. Obscenity is a 1st admendment issue and something that will have the backing of 100% of the industry. It is exactly what they specialize in.

You think that we could agree on dot xxx but even with that some in the industry were "making deals" and trying to support it. I wish that list would be released btw. I remember hearing that some members of the FSC were offered a % from the dot xxx assholes for their support and this was even considered. Not everyone agrees on piracy issues. Ask Lars how he feels about it, and why he sends millions to the sites that rip all of you off.

For the FSC to get involved in other issues I think it is a waste of time and conflict of interest, and will eventually mess things up beyond repair. If they get into anti piracy work and then accept donations from AFF you will have a lot of people stop supporting the FSC which in turn hurts us all when it comes to the shit they should be focusing 100% on which is Obscenity issues like 2257.

I appreciate their interest in these other issues (whether their intentions are money motivated or not) but I think it is bad for everyone if they try to become the legal consul for the adult industry instead of the FSC that tries to protect our rights of free speach.

If they focused on just obscenity, communicated a little better, and was transparent with their spending I don't think anyone here would have 1 bad thing to say about them.

the Shemp 09-10-2007 12:25 AM

what ever happened to that Steve Eastman guy and APIC?

pocketkangaroo 09-10-2007 03:19 AM

The problem with the FSC and many other organizations like it, is that they start off with good intentions, but eventually turns into a giant cookie jar where everyone is trying to dig their grubby hands into. They stopped focusing on members and causes, and start focusing on how much money they can take.

The organization doesn't communicate with members, doesn't seem remotely organized, and is beginning to fight causes that have nothing to do with free speech. The FSC has no business in dealing with piracy, especially considering they receive donations from companies that help the torrent/tube sites. They are a FREE SPEECH group that should be fighting 2257, obscenity prosecutions, and anything else that the government tries to do to stop our free speech.

So my membership is cancelled, and my extra donation that is made in December is also gone. This organization no longer works for the industry, and just looks for opportunities to get more handouts from webmasters. This industry needs a real voice, one that communicates with members, and actually gets shit done.

Will, the govt did pass 100% of what they wanted with 2257.FSC hasnt won at all on 2257 and thats why it should be their focus.

If I buy content, I buy an END PRODUCT (content), not a raw material. And as such, I have a complete and absolute expectation that it meets or exceeds ALL federal guidelines for merchantability BEFORE it's put up for sale.

It's simply retarded that I should have to pretend I was the photographer in record keeping matters.

FIX THAT PLEASE.

End of story.
