Great changes!
To add a bit of encouragement, my boyfriend stopped drinking beer (he never drank it heavily, but maybe 12 or so a week) for the last three months and with only that change he's lost his belly and 5lbs! |
Ya have fun with that .... I like the beer , like the fast food ... Looks like I'm screwed .....

Just kidding (sort of):1orglaugh |
Good luck. Don't wait to late. I waited till I hit 43 to start doing something and it's been rough but it's working.
Here's what's been working for me. Breakfast. 1 small bowl of Special K with 2% milk. Snack. Apple or banana. Lunch. Small Salad. Lettuce, Cherry tomatoes. Ham or turkey. Shredded Cheese. Boiled Egg. Some oil/vinegar based salad dressing. Yogurt. Supper. Whatever the wifes fixes. 1 helping. No potatoes. Eliptical 5 days a week. Bowflex 2 days a week Isometrics 2 days a week. In 3 months, I have dropped 25 pounds, 1 pants size, and 1 shirt size. I'm diabetic and my blood sugar is now under much better control. The old high school football muscle is coming back. Fat is going away. Now have some descent stamina again, it'll get better. |

these are some other creative low fat snacks/meals that have lots of veggies in them, and hardly any fat: thai lettuce wraps spring rolls grilled veggies (with balsamic vinegar and a tbsp of olive oil and garlic, salt/pepper) greek salad (all veggies, no lettuce) yogurt and fruit pho (vietnemese) good luck! once you start eating healthy and exercising for a while, it gets easier...in fact, it almost gets addicting. |

In fact I just bought another box of nicotine patches and the check out girl was laughing cause I bought a pack of smokes with them (and a little booze) explaining to her that I couldn't do it today but I plan on it tomorrow or the next day and want to have the patches ready :1orglaugh |

Good move, Keith. Personally, I've given up alcohol for over a decade now. I used to be in a fraternity in college and was pretty much drunk every day of college. LOL

Sounds like you really did your research Varius.
I'm basically doing the same shit. Been doing it for years. Used to be a fat fuck. But that's 80 pounds ago. ;) Good luck with the new lifestyle. You'll like it better once you've gotten used to it. And that won't take long. Trust me. |

fact is, staying in shape long term requires real effort and only 2-5% will be able to do it long term. people need to understand that manufactured food in the civilized world is created for profit---focus groups and market testers make food that TASTE GOOD so you will buy it. the foods that are the best for your body usually don't taste as good as dreyer's ice cream. so more than anything else, it is a WILL POWER thing to stay healthy. |
let's see how long can that plan last..
