See, I think that's a more realistic explanation. Perhaps the fights aren't fixed at times. Yet they might tell fighter at times what they can or cannot do. I mean, I have yelled at the TV : Why aren't you bringing him to the ground!!!

Just watched it. That was great! Well, if they are both laying on top of eachother, then I'm the first one to be screaming "stand them up"! But, if I know a guy can finish a guy on the ground and he is standing the whole fight-that gets my blood boiling a bit.

Personally, ever since the Leonard/Hagler fight I think all fights are fixed (boxing, WWF, UFC, name it) and boxing is the least dangerous of them all. Now, when a guy bites a guys ear off in a ring, that's not a fixed fight. I'm not saying it's a good or/nor fair fight, but I think we can assume that one wasn't fixed:1orglaugh

Sometimes I think they string it out longer to make a good show..... but I think their is too much money to be losing... it takes along time before their is a rematch and during that time alot can happen to a fighter.

You guys with all the conspiracy theories and fixed fight theories sound ridiculous. There's been a few bad decisions in the UFC, but there doesn't have to be a fix in to explain that, just bad judging. Also. fighters don't always follow the game plan that their corner advocates, and sometimes they just get winded or demoralized and fall apart in the ring when a stronger guy is manhandling them.

I still think boxing is basically legit for the most part, UFC tries but I dont' understand how they don't kill each other because in a street fight someone would get severally fucked up, that's why martial arts matches have so many rules that it bascially nullifies the art and turns the sporting event into crap.

Leonard won that fight fair and square. He hit him more often, he landed better shots. You can have a difference of opinion, but to say it was a robbery is just ridicuous.

The reason people get fucked up worse in street fights than MMA is because once someone is out in MMA you don't get to kick them in the head 20 more times. Other than that it's the same, unless you think biting is necessary to have a 'real' fight.

Do you know how difficult it is to make a million dollar bet or a series of bets that add up to a million dollars? It's not like bookies give people that option to make huge bets without knowing them and knowing that they have the money to lose? And to not have word get out of that kind of crazy action is going on is unrealistic even if you try to structure the bets through multiple intermediaries. And how many small bets could one make online with different accounts to add up to that amount of money? It just doesn't add up. Isn't it easier and more realistic to accept that GSP just got caught by a lucky punch from a veteran mma fighter?

As far as the UFC fixing the fights, no.

As far as fighters betting big agaisn't themselves when the odds are favorable ? Most likely.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Yes, that is what a martial arts match should be a two second death match, because each move is (or combination or moves) in theory is supposed to be lethal. The problem is we have turned it into a sport and thus a boxer will beat a martial artist (and I've seen it done) and fuck him up mentally for life.

I myself was stabbed on New Years eve of 1983 because I was more concerned with looking good and doing something fancy than just finishing the fuckhead off.

And in answer to your question, sports and combat are two completely opposite things. If you want to win a fight for real bring a gun!

I don't think he won. Hagler was still standing and since he was champ I think the decision should have gone to the champ.

Beyond that, I think something was holding Hagler back because I've seen lots of Hagler fights and he's a killer not a spa partner like he was doing in that fight. Maybe Leonard is that fast and television is just deceiving.
