They archive just about every website out there. Search for just about any site and you are likely to find an old cached copy in there.

What makes him a dweeb? because he is doing his job?

The only thing I disagree with so far is them perhaps identifying him. We all know who it is driving the car of course, but as far as the media knows, they don't have an idea yet. It looks like they probably got the information on the 205 site and backtracked everything else. What a good reason to keep all your WHOIS information private I would say.

No offense intended here. . . but. . .

In your first sentence you suggest he is JUST doing his job.

Second sentence you condemn (sorta) the station researchers and news staff for doing THEIR jobs.

This is big news right now in that area. Sad maybe, but that's not the debate. They went an extra mile (probably not at 219) to check him out and tried to scoop the other stations and media. I think they are also doing their jobs.

Will be very interested to see how big this fine is.

No offense taken.. you may have misunderstood the way I typed it.

I didn't condemn at all. Whomever it was called the TV guy a dweeb and I asked why?? because he was doing his job covering the news? no reason to call him a dweeb for that.

My only thought is naming someone on television before they get their day in court per se. You can be tried and crucified in the court of public opinion well before you even get to a regular court. As I said, we all know who the car belongs to, but when you listen to the TV stations, they are still doing their research. I always flinch when they announce someone's name earlier than they really should. That was all. Thx for the callout though, hopefully I explained a little better this time.

I looked at the Arizona laws to see what the possibilities are... there are maximum fines (like $750 from what I read)... it's the severity of the charge that may make jail time a possibility.

Perhaps you can explain how cameras controlled things. In Hollywood they close the road to other traffic, that was not done here.

The media in Phoenix will certainly throw anyone under the bus to get their story and they don't care who they fuck doing it.
Just like when they showed up at his front door with camera crew in tote wanting answers.
This sucks for him, that is for sure.

I am sure the fine for this may go higher depending on what they charge him with. And don't forget attorneys fees :)

Here's a bunch of live cams on that stretch of road (according to the news reports, the Loop 202). Just thought it interesting to see in daylight.

http://www.azdps.gov/webcams/cams-l202-p.asp

This is from the AZ DPS site. Kind of makes you think...they probably have their own video,.

If they can determine what night it took place and how recently it was they may still have copy of it you would think. Interesting.

That road was/is busier than I thought it was after reading the thread. Of course at night it was quiet but there were still cars and its still a route used by a fair number of vehicles so its very plausible to have cars entering the freeway.

These freeways all have cameras. Big brother has his eye on you....:winkwink:
I think the section of freeway he was on may have been a newly opened freeway. It may have been closed for a new rubberized surface and just opened back up. The 202 runs for a long distance. If it was a new section, they may not have had cameras installed and working yet.

Check it out, I hit up the Arizona DPS media relations dept. for a statement (as a reporter). They responded in about two minutes. Here's the response:

Quote:

Ray: I can only confirm that it is an on-going criminal investigation. We will not be commenting until the case is resolved, which we expect to be short term. I put you on my press list.

Sgt. Bart Graves, Media Relations Coordinator
CORE: Media Relations
Arizona Department of Public Safety
So apparently they are taking it seriously, it's not media hype...and apparently they are on to something they think is prosecutable. Another point of interest is the word "crime" a criminal investigation can only be for a misdemeanor and above, violations are a civil investigation. So, they are clearly looking for a reckless endangerment or reckless driving charge here. Damn that sucks!

AcidMax 11-29-2007 09:08 AM

This is the dumbest thing (or close) I have ever seen. IMHO they guy had to prove how big his balls were and it's backfiring on him. Funny how all of a sudden he has nothing to say when the news and cops come around. Wouldn't it be funnier if they confiscated his lambo and started using it for prositution stings.

One wrong move, bump in the road and that car would have spun out and killed the passenger and the driver, but possibly also someone else on the road. No excuse for this at all.

I am pretty sure they know, at the end of the bit the woman says something like "I won't say anything about it like you requested" and the reporter guy thanked her for keeping her mouth shut. They either don't want to bring it up yet, or they don't want to give his site any promotion from it. But, that is just my theory.

A local Scottsdale dentist may have set a new record for both speed and douchebaggery in his Lamborghini Murcielago. A video posted on YouTube -- and currently under investigation by the Arizona Department of Public Safety -- shows the Lambo reaching speeds of about 219 mph -- on a public road!

Although the video never shows the driver's face, his voice is heard. The man behind the wheel is rumored to be one Robert Simyar, Dentist/Porn Website Owner. Nik Richie at DirtyScottsdale.com uncovered some photos of one of the stars of Simyar's site -- and what appears to be the same Lambo being used as a prop.

While the dentist's preoccupation with speed shows no regard for the lives of others on the road, both of his occupations are making people smile.
