McD has McCafes in BsAs for some years now, they serve expressos, capuccinos, etc ( pretty good ) also iced coffee drinks, cakes, pastries. They have been pretty successful and nowadays 75% of all McD have one of those ( they actually replaced the kids area with Mc Cafes )

Jim_Gunn 01-08-2008 07:43 AM

I wouldn't patronize either of those chains. McDonalds serves horrible fat laden, greasy poison that gives you the shits and Starbucks is overpriced and arrogant, and a total waste of time and money. Eat some healthy food for lunch at home and make your own coffee or tea for pennies instead of wasting money at these places.

If by different class you mean pretentious and full of shit, I agree. :thumbsup

Maybe its how you approach them, I always found very friendly people to work at Starbucks. Also how can they be full of shit? Your asking for a cup of coffee. lol

sniperwolf 01-08-2008 08:33 AM

Starbucks doesn't really have the best coffee in town. They just serve pretty classy one. And oh with those people who sit there with laptops? They don't actually work -- they just find it to be one of classy hang-outs! lol

madfuck 01-08-2008 08:34 AM

Starbucks, for damm sure

shekinah 01-08-2008 09:34 AM

For a great coffee, I go to starbucks:)

JamesK 01-08-2008 09:39 AM

I fucking hate McDonalds coffee :(

NikKay 01-08-2008 09:47 AM

Starbucks coffee has gotten progressively worse and worse over the past year. I've stopped going there at all. When I don't make it at home, I'm picking a cup up from DD. We have 1 McCafe here and they have tasty and healthy wraps. I haven't tried their coffee yet though.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 01-08-2008 10:16 AM

I don't like mcdonalds or starbuck....I love dunkin donuts coffe....its cheaper and I swear theres crack in it lol It's so addicting

Start off by using fresh beans and grind them yourself. Then use different flavors and create your own blends.

Sometimes I wonder where you get your info. I have been to Starbucks all over the country and have yet to find one that did not have wifi, usually T-Mobile.

You must really live in the sticks.

Lets See Micky D's ake on Tim hortons in Ontario.

candyflip 01-08-2008 12:52 PM

Just wait until Tim Horton's starts building stores. We've got one spot where they have 3 within 1 mile of each other.

Edit: Just saw someone mention it above me too. Wendy's owns the US franchise rights.

Read what I wrote again. I was not talking about starbucks. I was commenting that several McDonalds I have been into lately have free wi-fi.

Many McDonald's also have indoor playgrounds for the kidlets which equals near free baby sitting while stay at home working mommy does her online business and sipping coffee all day. Then before you say it they do offer healthy choices now for kids like juices and stuff.

I apparently added a period after have instead of a comma and capitalized the word many. For most others though it would make sense despite the punctuation and capitalization mistake. So again I apologize to the oracle of the English language. My only excuse is that I am still in chronic pain and I occasionally make typing mistakes. I never claimed to be an editor and if you can not find something better to criticize or better yet attempt to comprehend something that if read more than once, or even once by most they would understand what I meant.

By the way if you notice I also said McDonald's often have wifi as well, it is obvious I am not saying starbucks does not.

So you aren't saying that the perk is wifi, but rather a play spot for kids?

marzzo 01-08-2008 04:17 PM

The only way to make a decent cup of coffee besides espresso:

Yes, it has a place for work from home moms to dump their kids where starbucks really does not. Aside from the ones in barnes and nobels and that assumes your kids like hearing stories or reading.

Grinding does make a difference. My friend got two as a gift, gave me one and it was the best thing I ever got. The coffee fresh ground is very yummy.

which award? the one from the Society of People Without Taste Buds?

I don't give a shit about awards. I don't think anything is good or bad based on awards. Who here only sees movies that have won academy awards? Awards all almost always biased in some form anyways.

No asshole, I already said I made a mistake in my English and punctuation. Not to mention it was done on next to no sleep with both cold and pain medicine.

Yup stay on it. Keep beating a dead horse. I explained myself already. Sometimes I really am concerned with how you manage in the real world without proper English, typo's, and slightly possible miss information. Lastly for the love of gawd do not get a GPS or use Google maps as they sometimes lead you to roads that are either closed or well not usable.

Of course, I have already figured out that what you mean and what you say are frequently two different things . . so I guess I should have worked that out on my own.

Listen baddog for some odd fucking reason you get up on my jock often and also like to talk to others about me via private and personally I do not care and I do my best to still act civil around you.

I used to work well with you when you were with mogul until well that all went belly up and then from that point even though I do not know how it ended for you I was eating a shit stick and not once did I hold it against you. Though ever since then you have seemed to be all up in my shit anytime I make a mistake at all. I have never been against working with you though I do not need hosting and honestly aside from press releases I have no idea what you else you even do. Though instead of even trying to see if there is someway we both could make some money, instead you publicly say shit like you will live longer than me and pick apart grammatical and spelling errors.

PS. I also forgot you do some additional work for JFK to help cover fubar.

Ok back to what I said, why in the hell would you rather just be a dick and fuck with someone than to seek out and try to find a way to make some money with people?

I think the US will soon see the appearance of what Australians have known for 10+ years as McCafe....
macdonalds own coffee and cakes/muffins only stores... no burgers or fries.. just CAFE.

EVERY standalone site McDonalds ion Australia (those not in shopping centres but on street locations) has been slated for McCafe addition during refurbs in the next 10 years.

LOTS have already been done.

At the same time, they enlarge and expand the kids play stations, so kids can play and parents can not eat crap burgers.

Smart marketing as they were going backwards and even closing stores Downunder not so long past.

:winkwink:

noam 01-09-2008 03:53 AM

Real men drink bitter, bad tasting coffee with no sugar or milk. That's what I drank in the military, that's what I drank when I was working in sales in Chicago and had to wake up every day at 5am and drive for three hours to a meeting in Indiana or Wisconsin, that's what I'll be drinking for the rest of my life and that's what I'll teach my sons to drink.

monstergalleriesdotnet 01-09-2008 05:16 AM

Mcdonald are for kids !

d-null 01-09-2008 07:47 AM

Love Starbucks coffee, it is rare to find a place that has better. (and yes I know you can make better at home, but to find a coffee shop that is better and consistent is pretty rare)

Starbucks breakfast (all day) sandwiches are great, by the way, I love the egg florentine sandwich... yum, healthier choice than mcd by far.

Tim Hortons is crap coffee by the way, only non-connoisseurs that don't get out much seem to like it.. it is super bland mild machine brewed weak and most often just a milk and sugar drink once people get their double double in it..... way over rated by dumb canadians that don't know any better.

alby_persignup 01-09-2008 09:09 AM

McDonalds, since its always everywhere and foods are very cheap in prices than in Starbucks.

d-null 01-09-2008 09:48 AM

this thread inspired me to run down to Starbucks and buy a Cappucino

something happened that hasn't before

she asked me if I wanted my cappucino "wet" or "dry"

I asked for an explanation, and she said that dry has less milk and more foam, so I ordered "in between"

it was really good

pPease do not refer to going to either of these establishments as an "experience". Such a word should be reserved for activities like viewing art, listening to music, or taking in a live show...things of that nature. Going to a store is not an experience, it is buying shit (in this case over priced coffee or fat laden meals).

But I do agree, they are two completely different entities and should not even be thinking of competing for the same audience in my opinion.

Vendzilla 01-09-2008 10:39 AM

ASM, in down town old redding, there is a little coffee shop with free WIFI and the coffee cakes there are damn good
