OK,
the shy ones,
here is my version of a good vegetarian dinner:

MikeW brought
http://nothingcontroversial.com/gall...- the Chef.JPG
muskrats

http://www.wyldesites.com/muskrats2.jpg

to our kitchen along with pressure cooker.
http://nothingcontroversial.com/gall...and%20wine.JPG

We used an old recipe by MikeW' mother and Dorchester County Cookbook which belonged to MikeW's GRANDMOTHER!

I felt like I went back to the days of my youth when my mother cooked the rabbit. I expected less and got more. http://nothingcontroversial.com/gall...ure cooker.JPG

Very pleasant surprise.

Less adventurous in food were not forgotten and got the http://nothingcontroversial.com/gall...dventurous.JPG
lamb chops, scottadito style.

The pairing wines:
1964 Renato Ratti Barolo
High neck ulage - something unusual for the 42 years old wine. The bottom of the cork was disintegrating, but the wine was A OK, brick orange peel color, plenty of refreshing acidity and no unusual smells.
Vibrant fruit, leather, porcini mushroom and was quite delightful wine.
2 more bottles left.

2000 Chateau Pavie Decesse
After having 2001 Pavie, I was mentally prepared for the worst and was pleasantly surprised.
Not a big hairy monster at all. I haven't found "wow" and "Holy Toledo", despite the fact that this wine good pairing with muskrats.
I'd probably buy it again @ $110 but not a penny more.

how does having a pet harm an animal intrinsically? it doesn't therefore it's fine.

Owning a pet infringes on it's right to be truly free,

denies it's ability to roam the wilds uninhibited

and it's freedom to eventually be eaten by another animal. (if it doesn't die of starvation first)

The pugs would last approximately 1.2 minutes in the wild.

Yet some vegans think you are a beast for enslaving them. :D

many animals are domestic by nature, and do not wish to roam the wild.

a lot of things infrings on one's right to be "free" but are not therefore necisarrily bad - such as marriage for example.

I'm sure an animal would gladly give up it's right to be eaten.

Peaches 01-26-2008 12:53 PM

Not one bit of substance in a word they speak
When they get outspoken it's only with the weak
See these wars they're happening and then you're aksing why
But just stop by any slaughterhouse and hear the animals cry

You missed the point it's over your head
I guess you'd rather be negative instead
You can't account for these things you've done
I'll bet you think this MOI is fun

Man's best friend is beautiful and affectionate, an ideal pet.
Cats are the same, we make up their names and our love for them is real.
Listen up, I gotta ask you, how can we be so cruel?
You say you care, that's a lie.
My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.
I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.
Under the table he'll eat your dinner like the veggies we can't stand.
What kind of meal would he make?
We don't want to ask it.
Tradition is all that keeps him alive.
Listen up, I gotta ask how can we be so cruel?
You say you care, that's a lie.
My true compassion is for all living things and not just the ones who are cute so I do what I can.
I wanna save lives and I've got a plan.
Why am I so upset.
Don't even own a pet.
I am not trying to press my will.
I am not the first to say...
THOU SHALT NOT KILL
Full is all you want to feel.
We eat to stay alive, but it's their lives we steal.
I think we'd like to change,
but most of us are stuck, that's why cats and dogs have
ALL THE LUCK
