the best song intro would have to be..

Rick Ross - Hustlin'

hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin', hustlin',
Everyday Im Hustlin

Exactly what I was going to post. :thumbsup

"You Could Be Mine" and "Locomotive" by Guns N' Roses are pretty badass too.

i forgot a link to the best song intro

https://youtube.com/watch?v=BVLWKVTCf3A

RedShoe 01-27-2008 07:31 PM

With the exception of ONE and SING SING SING, most of my intros are for like the first 10 seconds.

One ~ Metallica https://youtube.com/watch?v=JwW9L_qzqp8

Renegade ~ Styx https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ef1pJH-NXUQ

Paint it Black ~ Rolling Stones (maybe one of the most recognized and used 10 seconds in music history) https://youtube.com/watch?v=4aNuyNk8nro
Same goes for :
Sunshine of your love ~ Cream (I prefer the cream version over the Hendrix version (although, I love Hendrix))

Sing Sing Sing ~ Louis Prima

Little Green Bag ~ George Baker https://youtube.com/watch?v=0L1hD5OlPtw (reminds me of Baddog every time I hear it... I dunno why)

The End ~ the Doors FUCKING BAD ASS when used in Apocolypse now. https://youtube.com/watch?v=MI24H...eature=related

Under Pressure ~ David Bowie (YES!! FUCK OFF!!!) https://youtube.com/watch?v=aNGQor3dED8

Soul Craft ~ Bad Brains (anytime you get to hear Rastafarians playing metal is pretty bad ass) https://youtube.com/watch?v=UN6uVosQrY4

Don't fear the reaper ~ Blue Oyster Cult, for obvious comedic reasons... MORE COWBELL!!!

Jump Around ~ House of Pain (FUCK OFF... You know you liked it when it came out)

Where is my mind ~ The Pixies

Kashmir ~ Zepplin When it first came out and you were with a girl when that song came on, that pretty much guaranteed you sex.

Manteca ~ Dizzy Gilespe.. I know you've all heard this, https://youtube.com/watch?v=VxDG2PwSlIU but the Funky Lowlives remix is pretty bad ass as well https://youtube.com/watch?v=R51MS4LkWaQ

Jesus Built my Hot Rod ~ Ministry (see sig for quote)
https://youtube.com/watch?v=28S0csmLbNM This video is more accurate to the recording. The actual music video put out by ministry has the whole beginning chopped for time.

Hella Good ~ No Doubt - Dang, I dig her voice. https://youtube.com/watch?v=fmDBvJczTLw

No More Tears ~ Ozzy People listed some Ozzy, and I dig that opening as well. Same goes for:
War Pigs ~ Ozzy

In the Air Tonight ~ Phil Collins. Can't listen to it and not get a clear cut visual of Crockett and Tubbs. (don't lie, you know it's true)

Another one bites the dust ~ Queen https://youtube.com/watch?v=hMenB9Ywh2Q

2112 ~ Rush https://youtube.com/watch?v=jPMT-2p8NBU Neil Pert is the king. (proof he's the king https://youtube.com/watch?v=RMlKFEoSddU)

PRIMUS section
Tommy the Cat https://youtube.com/watch?v=Yn3uiLZY9Jg
My Name is Mud https://youtube.com/watch?v=tQaxYbPf-Hc
Jerry was a race car driver https://youtube.com/watch?v=SYcNcbJkVc8

shit, I like all their intros I'm going to list them all.... I'm done.

Drake 01-27-2008 07:33 PM

What else is there?

BTW, 2 corrections:

Iron Man is Black Sabbath, not Ozzy..Small detail? Nope.
Bitter Sweet Symphony: Actually, the intro is a Rolling Stones sampling..They didn't come up with those violins...just borrowed it..

This being said, those are great choices!!

Do you feel like we do? -- fr Frampton Comes alive!

It has the best opening lyric too:

Woke up this morning
with a wine glass in my hand
who's wine? What wine?
where the hell did I die

:D

Not only that, but because of one of the Stones' lawyers, the Verve didn't make anything off what turned out to be their #1 song :winkwink:

As for intros, there are many good ones, although I have always liked Elton John's somber opening to "Love Lies Bleeding" aptly titled "Funeral for a Friend" off of Yellow Brick Road.

i am a huge elton john fan and this is my favorite song of his! definitely an amazing intro. :)

The funny thing is. I hate songs. Ask anyone that knows me. The irony is, I love intros. I could listen to any song for like 30 seconds then I'm done. Get bored with it too fast I guess, or annoyed by it. Believe it or not, I sit here in total silence all day until my business partner comes into town then it's like non stop ear rape with his music. I find it more distracting than anything. but thats just me.

I dislike music, and some of it I downright hate. You'll notice I didn't list any U2 shit on there. I can't stand those queers.

Jimi Hendrix's intro to his acoustic version of 'Little Wing'. Very understated and very tasteful . . . .

Tom_PM 01-30-2008 05:38 PM

I do love the 13 bells in hells bells intro. But have to agree with Crazy Train leading the way. But mainly my fingers get whooped from the solo.

ADG

Yeah, Layla kills it,

If I would have to choose one song to be like the top song of the rock history, this is one of the few I would be seriously considering.. Especially if you know the story behind it.

The whole album "Layla and the other love songs" is monumental - "Bell bottom blues" beeing my other favourite.

Killer instrumental.. just first heard this a few months ago, glad you posted it here!

RedShoe, I'm the same way.. never make it more than 1 minute into a song before hitting next. Although I do enjoy 'Where the streets have no name' by Bono & Co every once in a while ;)

shermo 01-30-2008 11:45 PM

It's funny that hardly any music made in the last 5 years is on that list, and almost all but a few are out of the rock genre.

DigitalDruid 01-30-2008 11:51 PM

rock is the soundtrack to our life......... it is what it is.......
