Gonna be a fun fun fun day. Funny enough one of my buddies coming along is Canadian. Funny how those Canuks turn from anti gunners into NRA posterboys when they move to the US of A. :)

I just looked at an AR15 .308 - couldn't believe it - I think it was like $2200. That has to be insane to shoot.

a family friend was at his house alone, and his father has a nice sexy 12 guage. a guy broke in and first thing the son did was get the shot gun, the guy ran away and when cops came, gave a fine to the gun owner because the son had access to the gun.. canada doesnt fuck around

campimp 02-24-2008 04:28 PM

you use that thing for deer hunting or what

ChefJeff 02-24-2008 04:40 PM

One of the things I have grown to cherish more and more ever since moving to Arizona, is my right to bear arms. Gun ownership is a very important right. We all have to right to defend ourselves and to take pictures of porn stars with our guns... I am thankful for a dear old friend of mine that introduced me to the joys of guns.

Ayla_SquareTurtle 02-24-2008 07:10 PM

I'm somehow a bad person for wanting a gun in my home to protect myself? I'm not sure I understand that line of thinking. I have no children and the gun be kept safe and maintained properly. What's the problem?

Fap 02-24-2008 07:13 PM

you should play counter strike

What exactly was he charged with? There's no reason anyone in the house shouldn't be able to access the guns if they want.

You sure he didn't have it stored improperly? If you don't have (at minimum) a trigger lock on the gun and the ammo stored separately in a locked container, then they like to hand out fines for that.

I keep all mine in a gun safe. But if I want to give other people in the house my combination they shouldn't be able to stop me.

I heard the 74's were good rifles. I put about 5 grand in my .223 to make it a shooter, so keeping it. I do own an AK 47, won't shoot staright worth a damn, but it never ever jams.

I mentioned the hunting to say Im not a anti gun freak but if you live in a area that makes you feel you need a gun at home its time to leave as many places exsist that wouldnt make you feel like you needed a gun.

Of course if you live in south africa like my buddy well she has no choice (but i would still personally move if i was her)

Wouldnt you like to live in a place that you felt totally safe and didnt need a gun or AK45 to protect you, trust me its a nice feeling :thumbsup

Yes we know everywhere has its risks before thats mentioned :winkwink:

Having a shotgun in my house is a safety thing.

Do you have black bears, coyotes, and coy dogs, etc.. that hang out in your backyard regularly? I live in the sticks. My gun is for more than safety from people, that's what my tazer is for;)

Friends of mine live in a small community where people leave their doors unlocked all the time, will leave the keys in the cars ignition over night even, etc. Almost zero crime.
Few years ago 2 guys traveling through stopped in this town to fill up their car when for what ever reason they followed someone home, waited to the night and broke into the 10 yr old daughters room through the window, gagged her and tired her to the bed. Something caused her father to wake up and grab his 300win from his closet before checking out the noise. He opened the door just as the first guy was taking down his pants, 300win makes a big hole close range, the second guy managed to get out the window and onto the road before the second shot from the rifle made a mess of him.
These two guys each had a pocket knife in their hands.

You think if you walked into the room with even a knife yourself that you could have stopped them?

Do you have insurance on your car? A gun at home is the same thing, just in case.
As someone said, better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6.

PS, the father was charged with excessive force, although the 12 that judged him said he was not guilty.

A .308 AR is called an AR10. Its a lot of fun to shoot, has some real kick to it.

A long gun only needs to be unloaded for storage in Canada.
If a firearm is used for self defence in Canada its automatically unsafe storage, excessive force, or several other BS charges that really never stick.
If everyone in the household has their pay you can leave firearms loaded, as your house constitutes a "safe", and you could just be a constant state of "cleaning and testing" of your firearms.

I don't think that is correct. In most cases, if it isn't in a locked cabinet then the gun needs to be inoperable, i.e. trigger lock.

The ammo must also be stored separately or stored in the same locked container as the guns.

The only exception is this: (directly from the Canadian Firearms Centre website)

An unloaded non-restricted firearm can be kept unlocked:

temporarily if it is needed to control animal predators in an area where a firearm can lawfully be fired (ammunition must be kept separate or locked up); or
in a remote wilderness area (ammunition may be kept readily accessible).
