How many times have I heard Americanos making fun of our money because all the bills are different colours? Sure, making all your bills the same colour is somehow a better idea ?!?! No one ever explained why ... just gave that "Duh, because we're American, that's why" look

I already posted why they are doing it. It's the fight against counterfeiting. I watched a program about it a long time ago (about 10 years). They said the plans are to eventually turn US currency into full multi color bills. The problem is they just can't go out and do it n one big change. They said in the program it would take about 2 decades to change completely. So they are half way there now.. 8)
Reason is because it would hurt the value of the bill, as the US currency is the most recognizable bills on the planet. Anywhere you go, people know what a US dollar looks like. If they just up and changed it at once it would lose that recognition and hurt the value. (not that matters at this point)
