From my understanding though E85 gets worse MPG so it all evens out in the end.

I filled the tank up wioth regular gas and got 334 miles out of it before the light turned on, I then filled it up with E-85 and got 320 miles out of the tank, so if i lose 14 miles and save 7 bucks from each fill I am happy

Another issue, that's virtually never mentioned, is the added wear on the engine from using E-85. Even E-85 compatible engines (most these days) are likely not totally protected from the corrosive damage that E-85 can inflict on parts.

Its a two year lease, i can care less what happens to the engine after that :)

1 littre is $1,10 so is it about $4,40 per gallon?

Mr Pheer 03-14-2008 02:36 PM

I'll be riding my motorcycle a whole lot more.

45mpg on my bike, 12mpg in my 4x4 truck

even though I only fill my truck up once a month and it only has 20k miles on it in the 2 1/2 years that I've owned it, why pay that much for gas.. its stupid.

B) I think you have your math backwards. You really don't pay $8.80 a gallon. because you are not paying in $ you are paying in euros. See if the Euro and the $ are the same value and for every 100 euros you get paid you can get $100. Now your pay is the same yet now you can get $156. So really your 5.64 euros per gallon is the same as an American paying $3.66 which is not much higher than what people are paying now.

That's some f'ed up logic there, no matter how you spin it, gas in europe costs $8.80... and theorizing what if 100 euros were to equal 100 usd, is pretty flawed too, as the price of gas already takes that into account... if usd was stronger, then price of oil, and thus gas would be cheaper too...

thats great news! roll on $5 / gallon

Its about time people stop driving Hummers and F150's to do their shopping

I saw my first US smart car the other day, expect to see more of these.

D Ghost 03-14-2008 02:47 PM

One of the major difference between gas prices here and there is the fact most eu contries I know of pay hefty gas taxes to subsidies the socialized health care and other public programs

Here they dont do that. I would gladly pay 8.00 a gallon if I got free health care. I would be saving myself a ton of money

Good point. I hate when that comparision is made.

yeah, i had the flex fuel in my old tahoe and filled up I think 3 times before I got rid of it. I never tested the theory, just what I read. It was a noticable difference going to the pump and saving more money when I stuck the E85 in.

WRONG.

Let's compare 2 people. Say both use the same amount of gas. Say 500 gallons a year. Both have the same income.

Person A- American makes $40,000 a year. Say gas goes up to $3.60 a gallon. That's $1800 a year or 4.5% of his yearly income.

Person B-Eurpoean makes $40,000 a year that's 62,400 Euros. Pays 5.64 Euros per gallon. That's 2800 euros or 4.49% of his yealry income. Seems about that same to me.

math is FUN!

Wow :helpme:error

Exactly everybody driving those POS vehicles have no RIGHT at all to bitch about gas prices. If you drive something that gets 30+MPG go ahead and bitch cause you've at least done something about it.

Instead of bitching, we ALL know it'll be $4/gallon this summer so change the way you do shit! 1) buy an old/cheap car so you can put your payment cash towards gas OR go buy something which gets better gas mileage. I have 2 kids but honestly MOST of 24k miles on my civic hybrid the past 6mnths were with only 1 person in the car and very rarely is everybody in (2 adults + 2 kids)

Here's what you do, simply have something SMALL for driving to/from work! If you're driving a Yukon Denali XL to work with 1 person in it you simply have NO RIGHT to even complain about gas prices.

Complain about your corvette getting under 20MPG? here's a thought, don't press the pedal down so hard, I've owend 4 vettes and they get GREAT gas mileage if you don't hammer it all the time.

Bitch about way lower than EPA gas mileage? here's a thought, simply quit doing 80+ on the freeway everywhere! When I stick to cruise set at 70(speed limit here) I get 45 MPG and when I do 80MPH I get 38MPG and when I do 55 everywhere (highway speed limit) I get 55MPG back the fuck off the speed and you go further ;) that time saved from going faster is killed by stopping for gas so much more often

VeriSexy 03-14-2008 07:25 PM

Mehh.. we've been paying well over that for a while now.. close to $6 a gallon for premium gas
