I've been using them for years and haven't had any problems :thumbsup

I've had good domains yanked from GoDaddy for link spam, of course they never sent me any proof, just yanked 'em... cunts. This was years ago, I bet they're even more anal now.

No problems with NameCheap in the last 5+ years...

domainnamesystems.com

Not in my experience. I have a couple of hundred domains there and an account for 7 years. Any problems I have had have been swiftly and professionally dealt with. Even have had domains expire that have given back to me 2 weeks after they expired.

WiredGuy - sorry to hear this man, must be very stressful. I seem to remember godaddy 'reclaiming' a paysite domain from one program a few years back because an affiliate spammed it. For them to just terminate you and not explain anything is very shitty indeed.

RacyScarlett 04-04-2008 12:35 AM

Well I've never had any trouble with Godaddy but this scares me.
But whatever you do don't go with DirectNic. At least Godaddy gave you the chance
to move. DirectNic stole my domain because of a complaint.
They locked it down and still have it. I guess I could have hired a lawyer but I really
couldn't afford to do that. So consider yourself lucky that you had the opportunity to
transfer your domain. I wish Directnic would have let me do that.

LOL if you had a couple of hundred productive domains there's no way you'd be a sigwhore for ragecash

cheekycherry 04-04-2008 01:22 AM

Wiredguy.... Lots of us have been saying this for years. Godaddy are scum sucking pieces of shit. They did the EXACT same thing to me years ago on a domain that made me mid 5 figures a year...

GODADDY ARE SCUM... and it winds me up when I try to tell people that they are scum and then you get those nobs jump the thread saying "I've never had any problems"... You fucking retards, you WON'T have any problems until you DO have a problem... Get your domains out of there and spread the word.

Use namecheap.

Guys, don't wait for this shit to happen to you! Spread the word! Every opportunity you get, TELL people about this. I have been for years.

xmas13 04-04-2008 01:23 AM

Godaddy sucks. Old news :-)

What gives? Some guy sends a complaint about my domain and they can disrupt my entire business? And now they want $100 to transfer the domain to another registrar or $199 to fight the complaint? This is complete bullshit! Since when has GoDaddy been doing this? Eugh, what a great way to disrupt all my sales and traffic!!

And of all domains, they have to do this to my tracking server! What the hell!!
WG

They have been doing it for >1 year, which is why nobody with any brains is using them. Get out, move all domains you have on them and never go back.

Mickey Mouse 04-04-2008 02:14 AM

You'll have the same problem at the next place you move that domain to I think. Who ever it was that complained, will notice that you've moved and complain again and you'll be back in the same boat yet again. GoDaddy and any other company is going to protect "their" ass quick and put you out.

V_RocKs 04-04-2008 02:19 AM

@WG... hit me up on ICQ...

BetChips 04-04-2008 02:32 AM

Wow sounds like a major mess! I hope you get it taken care of easily as possible.

Fizzgig 04-04-2008 02:37 AM

They did it to us once, they got $74 or so but lost all our business forever.

CyberHustler 04-04-2008 02:40 AM

WRONG... Other domain regsitrars don't act like Nazis.

Don't make out this is common practise amongst all registrars. This is something that in my experience GODADDY do... Nobody else. It's an underhanded, blackmailing, ransom taking mofos to increase their margins... and is total BS!!!!!!!!

rabbit 04-04-2008 03:09 AM

godaddy is a huge global monster... the worst hosting experience i had. i've been moving all my domains to moniker since a while ago now.

GoDaddy is fine until they get a complaint, legit or not, and then the hell begins. They've been hijacking domains this way for years, get out asap.

fris 04-04-2008 05:53 AM

WG, try emailing [email protected]

it goes to bob parsons secretary, I had emailed her before, and I got an issue resolved pretty quickly.

Godaddy has always been like that. That's why you never use godaddy. You are lucky they only want $100 to unlock it. I've heard as high as $400 before.

Odin 04-04-2008 05:59 AM

I first posted about this a couple years back. Want someone who won't terminate your domains regardless of how many fuckers complain? Hit namecheap up. Almost as good as the 'bulletproof' domain registrars.

crockett 04-04-2008 06:03 AM

enom is shady too, I wouldn't move there either. I have about 20 names there but never reg any new ones.

All my others are at Moniker or Namecheap.

namecheap = enom reseller.

tranza 04-04-2008 07:10 AM

I've also had quite a lot of horror stories with go daddy. Just get out as fast as you can man..

:2 cents:

justsexxx 04-04-2008 07:33 AM

Wow that sucks. Does this mean all your clicks throughs are down now?

Anyway, I have good experiences with Moniker. When you call them, they might be able to help you out as well...

yys 04-04-2008 07:38 AM

Wow that really sucks that someone messed with your business like that. Hopefully you can get this rectified without any long term damage to your listings.
It's happened to me once and I transfered anything that mattered out of godaddy. I think I still have 4 domains with them that I will be transferring out over the course of the next year. As others have said it can take a lot longer then 24 hours to transfer the domains with all the confirmation emails they seem to send out. I even had them sending the emails on one domain to an old address that hadn't been in the contact field for a few years; that was a bitch to straighten out.

Wouldn't you like to get your hands on whoever did this to you and slowly feed them their own teeth?

Czech 04-04-2008 07:41 AM

Yep I just transfered all my major domains out of Godaddy to namecheap.

Yea I know and I don't like that fact either. However namecheap has been a pretty good service, but because of them being connected to Enom I'm skeptical of them. I had a lot of issues with Enom during the RegistryFly fiasco.

GAMEFINEST 04-04-2008 08:09 AM

Moniker.com

Enom.com

Dynadot.com

only the finest

GAMEFINEST 04-04-2008 08:10 AM

loll, the funny stuff is , they want money to resolve the issue? loll

WG

No offense to you, but I think you just learned a hard lesson. You need to spread that out, so that of something like this happens again, you take a smaller hit.

Brujah 04-04-2008 08:34 AM

I would also take a look at Fabulous.com, if it hasn't been mentioned. If you need a contact at GoDaddy, Adam Dicker is a VP there now and may be able to help.

I remember when I sold a domain to xxxjay, they wouldn't let the transfer go through. It came to a point where I called them and had them WALK me through it. They walked me through it, and they messed up on the instructions, and it locked the domain for 3 months. They said they were sorry about it, but they couldn't unlock it, even though it was THEIR fuckup. Talk about selling a domain and having to wait a year~ to finally transfer it. Was a pain in the ass.

Sansa 04-04-2008 09:03 AM

Godaddy and Dreamhost as the pillars of a successful internet business.

fris 04-04-2008 09:26 AM

Its an actual email

PhillipB 04-04-2008 09:49 AM

Hey Charles,

Namecheap rocks, we've been slowly transferring all our domains from Directnic for the past 3 years. Plus free WhoisGuard on transfers.

cheekycherry 04-04-2008 12:12 PM

Bump for newbs that are still using godaddy.

GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!

onlineriches 04-04-2008 12:23 PM

Split domains between Moniker & eNom, never have all your domains in one basket.

If you have any sketchy domains that border on legality, transfer them to an offshore hosting company such as shinjiru.com who will laugh at any complaints they receive unless the proper legal action is taken in Malaysia.

These fucking clowns have lost several good domains of mine ( I renewed in good time, but they did not actually renew them ), plus they have this rip-off expiration thing going.
For lost domains they offered to repay me the renewal fee for the failed renewal ( I still havent gotten any btw ).
I should have sued these idiots.
