"Driving" a car that's basically coasting on its own weight across the street, I'd guess has about the same amount of chance to hurt/kill/maim someone as riding a bicycle. Less perhaps. I would ride a bike a lot harder than I coast across the street with no insurance, for certain.

So, do you people have bicycle insurance? What if you kill someone?

Canadians these days.

If you are driving on a public road then you need insurance period ...Your vehicle is moving slow or fast doesnt matter if you hit some little infant at 1 mph you could still kill them.:2 cents:

In mexico city where my wife is from, car insurance is optional. :)

Why don't you just walk? I have a grocery store across the street as well, we walk.

I personally am fully insured. However in that instance the infant would still be killed. Only difference is hopefully I have enough insurance that they still do not come after me for more money above and beyond that. If I did not have insurance or like the person above who does not (some just have liability for like 50k btw and are legal). They would just be personally liable for damages.

madfuck 04-15-2008 02:12 PM

fuck all tht its gettin to be way to much for gas, hopefully it goes down soon....
cant do much "( it sucks!!! gas jst go down....lol

Gary_TLX 04-15-2008 02:15 PM

It costs me $125 to fill up and I do it at least 5-6 times a month. I just bought a bike, so that will probably cut my overall gas spendings in half. It's at least as much fun as the bimmer, I just hope that I won't end up killing myself... :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

smoke 04-15-2008 02:16 PM

They just had a story on the news that said the Bay Area has the highest gas prices in the U.S.. Regular gas here in San Francisco is hovering right around $4.05, premium is around $4.30 and diesel is around $4.60.

smoke 04-15-2008 02:22 PM

They had another story on about Southern California and the possiblility of adding a gas guzzler tax at the pump which would be an extra $0.09 a gallon. It has something to do with to many cars on the road. Not sure on the specifics, it still has to be voted on. They said it will either be a 9 cent tax at the pump or a larger lump sum tax on registration.

That better not end up state wide. I drive a van that uses a bit of fucking gas because I have to.

minddust 04-15-2008 03:14 PM

3.79*1.32 = 5.00$ / gallon

Fuck Bush:321GFY

YOU might have voted for him but I sure as hell didn't.

shermo 04-15-2008 03:21 PM

I actually never look. I need to buy gas to drive regardless. Luckily I work from home and fill up MAYBE once a month.

Horny Alf 04-15-2008 03:32 PM

I call bullshit on you walking anywhere :thumbsup

Colin, I think that amount is per MILE not per GALLON. Tom's the one who said it wrong the first time though.

That's now 3 goofy men I've had to correct in one post. :upsidedow

(now watch me be wrong on the IRS stuff and feel silly........)

I walk over if I only need a few things, but if I'm getting groceries for the whole week or want drinks, I bring my trunk with me ;)

Rhesus 04-16-2008 10:04 AM

The higher the prices, the better the news. Apparently prices are still not high enough for people to change their gas-guzzling habits a bit (you needn't drive an SUV!) and for governments to tighten policies.

In Canada the minimum liability is $1,000,000.

Oops. true. So my car which only gets 14 mpg city is $6.79 per gallon deduction.

jalami 04-16-2008 01:17 PM

Works out to $4.32 a gallon down here.... pretty soon they'll up it to the equivalent of $4.63. Time to move to Venezuela!

Heidi Rabbit 04-17-2008 01:56 PM

How far is the average commute? Do you have reliable public transportation?

Quite reliable public transportation indeed. But Londoners driving a car in the inner zone will soon pay a congestion charge of $50/day, unless their cars have very low CO2 emissions, which only goes for Fiat Puntos and such.

Such an optimist...

It'll be $5.00 per gallon by summer.:disgust

I still have insurance on the car even, but parked insurance, so if it gets stolen from the spot, or someone hits it, etc. Life insurance too for me and my family.

I see you've never been rear ended at 20mph.... It will do thousands of dollars of damage to your car. I rarely drive, but I have full insurance.

That makes no sense at all... Gas is going up at an incrediable rate and it hasn't changed any of our driving habits..... Socking us for another nine cents isn't going to decrease the amount of cars on the road. They could double the price of gas and it still might not make a difference.
