I don't fault ARS for site lineup changes, a lot of programs have done it, and I think I proved I'm not that angry since I went back and updated my site several times to adapt. I don't love being forced to do extra work or lose money, but you don't either, and we all want to make money together. I chalk that up to doing business. Whats a TMF? As for how much you pay per signup, how did I lose $20 per signup, or 50%? I see you mentioned $5, but I'm talking a full 20 bones here! I don't know how much you pay me, I just know that when I divide totals by # of sales I get $19 vs $39. I'm still confused about that. You guys paid $40 a signup before! $19 is a long way off. I also traditionally pick the highest trial amount possible, to promote full month sales. I often turn off trials if the sites are good enough and I have a choice. I rarely if ever promote $1 joins etc. So I'm 90% sure whatever my linkcodes "translated to" after your change is what I was being paid on, so it's whatever you guys set it to! y'know? As for ratios, we've all seen the decline. But 10x is not the decline we've all seen either. It's been a lot more gradual than that. I've seen ratios go from 1:200 to 1:400, but not 1:200 to 1:500 to 1:1700 to 0:2100.. I mean that's just appalling, I'm sure to both of us. So what's the solution here for ARS affiliates? Am I to give you another week of my time writing new articles for ARS sites, after seeing how this has played out? I might even do it, but convince me! What is ARS offering in 2008? Not to webmasters, but to CUSTOMERS? What are you doing to win over their hearts and wallets? I don't care about your new FHG's or 15 different linkcodes or 400 different internal programs. I hardly know what BYOT means, luckily I do.. All I know is I sell memberships to websites, as honestly as possible. What can I tell my customers to expect at ARS sites? What are they? Do they shoot exclusive content? Do you update them, and how often? Do members get access to a network of sites? Just being honest, your program is confusing, even to me after 6 years of logging in. I mean shit, just look at the Stats dropdown, this pretty much sums it all up: Overall Stats Paysite Stats BYOT Stats HSN Stats XXX Stream Stats Referring URL Stats Campaign Tracking Stats Period to Period Stats WM Ref Stats FHG Stats HFS Stats BYOT Owner Stats FHG Owner Stats CSV/PDF Stats Export |
Alright Enough of this, if you guys would like to have a conference call with us let me know. Our office # is 269-488-8224.

I already vented, relax.. What's up in 2008 for ARS?

Hey Socks - On the per signup issue, without looking into it in more detail, I'm not sure about those payout rates. If you hit me up on icq (i'm not on right now) with your account number, I'll take a close look and get back to you on that.
Ratios - A lot of this can be attributed to stale sites in the portfolio with old content. To try to counter this, we started the one new site per week for a year to update with newer designs and newer content. Some of them work well, some don't. But, I even see fluctuations on sites from paid search traffic from one week to the next. I think that can be attributed to the processor. So, having my own control over processing can eliminate some of that. The solution? Let's talk about what sites are doing well and see if you can target those first. I would definitely love to get another shot at your business. Currently customers get access to my entire database of content for both photos and videos. They can access via a niche drop down or via the site network drop down. The members areas are easy to use and have good search functions so you can easily find what you are looking for. They have a bit of web 2.0 flavor to them with the ability to rate, review, and tag content. They can browse by tags. They can also add content to a favorites section for easy access. And there is a ton of content for them to access. What is ARS doing in 2008 for customers? The major piece is a whole movie content upgrade. I am having the entire DVD database re-encoded into much better resolutions and bit rates and offering 5 different movie formats for customers (currently four are offered). I've also set a limit to only buy content shot 2005 or later and I buy HD when I can. We are working on a few really great sites that will hopefully have great conversions. I am having HD content shot and new sites developed that will be released later this year. We are working on a new DVD site with a different billing model. These newer sites are being developed by very high end designers, so they will look very fresh and appealing. But I don't anticipate any of this to launch until later this year. On the stats, yeah there is a shitload of information there. But I would rather err on the side of providing too much info over not enough info. You can track as detailed as you want with your stats to be able to tweak your campaigns right down to each link if you want to. And there are a lot of programs you get paid on that need to be broken out. If you'd like me to explain what each of them is, just lmk. What this all boils down to is I can understand your frustration. I've been in this industry for 11 years and I feel it just like you do. The only thing I can do is to continue to work on improving products that customers want to join and I am most definitely placing my focus there. |

Whenever I see ARS mentioned my first thought is "gee, they are still around?".
ARS was a fantastic top performing program back in the day, but their downfall came from being unfocused; going in too many directions at once. I recall several months ago (late 2007?) ARS did a big promotion on GFY (skin, stickies, etc) about the all new and improved ARS (like not again lol!), but then the excitement rapidly petered out; many here have been there, done that. What new things (as in truly innovative; not simply more sites), that convert well, are ARS offering these days? Ron |

I dont see anyone being innovative, most just copy join pages, copy promotions, copy site names, make a bonus site page. Throw a program up and see what sticks. |

It still blows my mind how many of you continue to promote programs with SHITTY sites. But for competition sake I'd appreciate if you keep doing it :winkwink:
