ViewSonic VX2835wm Black/Silver 28" Widescreen LCD Monitor
I grabbed this one a month or so ago, great monitor so far.. a little on the big side at 28"
I'd prolly never buy this big again, and go around 25" max for a computer monitor...
Also this one increased $100-$150 in price since its release, i guess that means people like it...
For $500 delivered it was a steal... no brainer
At $650 plus delivery now... might have some alt choices

i got something similar a while ago ;)
just kandalf lcs, 2gb (1.1ghz) ram, and quad oced to 3ghz :D It's pleasure....

Meeper 05-12-2008 05:36 PM

Well I do have a 30" that I am using at work and I love it. But yea I think 24's are the way to go for sure. Just making sure that they have a good Contrast Ratio and Response Time because I game quite a bit :P

rayadp05 05-12-2008 05:40 PM

Nice looking system bro. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

don't waste your time with a duo core, go quad.

That's what I just got and I love mine... Running Vista with my games or Photoshop and everything else is no problem....

start rendering some HD vid and running big batches in photoshop, then come tell me you don't need a quad. from what I've seen quad is the only way to go... you can upgrade a video card a lot cheaper than you can change out the processors. $.02

MandyBlake 05-12-2008 06:12 PM

cool, I had no dead although I've read great stuff about quads and games. I'm a content shooter though. anything less than a quad is a waste of time and money to me. -bmb

I think he's using primarily for gaming so Photoshopping isn't a priority ... though I could be wrong on his requirements, I skimmed the thread.

The 2 Nvidias though is a bit overkill ... for now.
:winkwink:

I went mac a month ago - mac pro - dual quad's. Still getting used to the OS , but I like it so far.

Is it worth the $$? Im waiting until the dev convention in July to see if there are any new announcements. Might need to pick one of these bad boys up.

tony286 05-12-2008 06:45 PM

the e8400 is a great chip if your water cooling you could over clock the shit out of it.

KRosh 05-12-2008 07:00 PM

the reason i asked about the OS

If you are running 32-bit Windows, you will not ever see all 4GB of RAM you've paid for.

If you are running 64-bit Windows, depending on your motherboard's chipset, your system may support memory remapping. If so, you will be able to use all 4GB of RAM.

:2 cents:

DirtyDanza 05-12-2008 07:25 PM

uhhhh dood I thought you ordered a computer... thats not a mac it will never work what a waste of money

Yea I am aware 32bit only supports a little under 3gigs of ram. Still debating over 64bit

Nice rig.

Don't think the raptors are worth the money and SLI 2x is a bit of a waste in my opinion but hey if you got the money what the hell.

woj 05-12-2008 09:12 PM

You should have got sticks bigger than 1GB, if your mainboard has 4 slots then there's no way to add memory if you do change to 64 bit...

Good looking machine.

Jens Van Assterdam 05-13-2008 01:10 PM

Pretty small HD so.. 74gb?! Aight its fast but you need some back up space for sure..

salesman 05-13-2008 02:07 PM

you mean 740GB HDD, not 74.0GB, right ?

If it's a Raptor then it probably is 74GB; I think the largest Raptor you can get currently is "only" 300GB.

sniperwolf 05-13-2008 03:04 PM

looks awesome! congrats! :winkwink:

Kudles 05-13-2008 06:37 PM

Congrats on your new computer!

SirMoby 05-13-2008 10:20 PM

Duals are much better for gaming because most games don't use the quad core YET. Quads are much better for video rendering and photoshop.

I just got new rig.

Gigabyte X48
Q9450
8G G-Skill RAM 1066
Thermalright Ultima 90 coolor

I got a cheap graphics cars because I don't game but I'm clocked to 3.6 right now. I don't think my cooler will handle more.

GrouchyAdmin 05-13-2008 10:25 PM

Ugly, overpriced, and overkill. Bonus!

SATA 1, liquid cooling, dual core, SLI. Hope you like playing Fallout 1.
