cant remember last time i cooked... think it was about 2 years ago, restaurants every night... but then again i live in thailand, so cost of living is like $1.50. maximize your revenue while you can, invest it, grow it, retire... stop blowing it on fuel...

GetSCORECash 06-04-2008 09:20 PM

crackers are one dollar more. From $1.19 to $2.09 in less then six months.

Milk is now $4.00 at CVS, which is $2.00 cheaper then a supermarket.

Milk here is $1.99 for two gallons !

I bought a 6 pack of beer today for $2.79 at Albertsons

A dozen eggs cost about $1.49 - $2.99 depending on
size and if they are organic or not?

Gas is $3.89 and this is the biggest price increase I've seen the last year.
The state (wa) just raised the gas tax another 10 cents so this doesn't help!

I did notice today my Comcast bill went up to over $200 per month so
I'm calling them tomorrow to cancel everything except internet and basic cable.

I just paid $8 for a bottle of water... lol

Sarah_Jayne 06-05-2008 01:36 AM

A meal from a fast food place costing $62 is obscene.

Ross 06-05-2008 05:57 AM

Everything is going up. I tend to do my shopping every two weeks and we notice prices going up at least once a month. Milk is going up a lot I think. Energy supplies to my house just went up by about 12% again which is very annoying. Haven't really noticed prices going up in restaurants tho, we eat out a few times per month and prices are generally the same. I think the UK is the worst place top stay. Our government take money from us for EVERYTHING. We pay duty on our cars, we pay road tax, we pay duty, tax and god knows what else on Fuel and we pay fortunes for repairs to cars.

I honestly hate this country so much right now.

scottybuzz 06-07-2008 11:04 AM

i dont know about other prices, but food prices, you must be living in cloud cooko land if you are complaining, for years we have exploited these african countries and got perfect deals and now we are so used to them and now other external factors are raising up the prices.

Be happy with how we have raped africa for the past 20 years.

I mean seriously i can buy a huge bar of asda smart price choclate for 20p of which 0.4p will go to the producers. Some choclates charge that just for the packaging.

perfectodollars-gabrio 06-08-2008 03:40 AM

i think that in every county is happening the same...speak about gasoline....soon we'll be trading gold for one liter of fuel!!

perfectodollars-gabrio 06-08-2008 03:41 AM

and this is spaghettiland for the note...

Again, noticing and complaining are different things.

Over here in Macedonia you need 400$ for good live to cover all bills and for food and for go out in the bars.

AmeliaG 06-09-2008 04:52 AM

I'm a bit of a foodie, so I know I buy expensive food to begin with, but the cost of my basic groceries has gone up around 30% on average where I live in Hollywood. A lot of the sort of luxury fruits have pretty much doubled in price. High quality and organic meats are up a lot. Seen less of a change in things like bread and eggs, which are up but not crazy up.

bausch 06-09-2008 05:01 AM

Hmmm I live by myself and food is pretty cheap for me even with the rising costs. I don't understand what people eat/buy that costs $350 a week? That must be to feed a huge family or something. I only eat lean protein such as shrimp and salmon and healthy foods like vegetables/spinach etc and it's all very cheap.

I am a rather small person so it doesn't take much to fill me up. If I ate $300 worth of crap from the grocery store a week I would become so huge I could probably be rolled down the street like a beach ball since I wouldn't be able to walk anymore or my stomach would probably explode and I would die.

Bread has certainly gone up big time here in the UK over the last year but I am starting to really notice the increase in the price of things like fresh fruit too. For example, a bag of red apples that I buy pretty much every week cost me (translating to dollars) about $2 this time last year and this week that same bag cost me just about $4.

What basic food things are you noticing really going up in price over the last year or so where you live?

How bout everyone looking at this http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk and tell if its different from UK and in what way?

I bet a lot of the fruit is do to shipping costs because so much of fruit comes from wherever it is in season at that time of year rather than locally.

Peaches 06-09-2008 08:28 PM

They only had organic FF milk in the 1/2 gallons today. $4.18 for 1/2 a gallon :( And gas up here finally went over the $4 mark for regular - $4.09.

I live in OC Orange County. I only buy fresh produce and fresh fish to eat because I refuse to eat frozen meat or any frozen foods from now on and it's still cheap for me. All I buy is produce and fish/shrimp tho, I don't eat things like cookies, cereal anything frozen, juice, soda, milk. I only drink water and organic pasteurized OJ and sometimes iced tea. I usually only shop at Trader Joe's. I eat correct portions tho, I think a lot of people don't know what a portion is and will eat like 3 portions of fish/protein at one sitting.

Also, my stomach is small and I'm under 100 lbs so it's not like I am capable of eating a lot.
My goal is to get a six pack and be as toned and firm as possible. I eat to live long and for looks (to make my body as toned as possible), I don't eat for enjoyment.

I also try to cut out sugars because sugar converts into fat. A lot of celebs are so toned because they don't eat sugar. Sometimes I slip and do eat sugar (like last night) but I try not to have it in the house because it's like drugs. You can become addicted to it and get sugar highs.

I don't eat this way because I'm cheap because I spend a lot of money on other things having to do with my appearance. I only eat this way because I want to optimize my body for looks. (Toned and fit)

bausch 06-09-2008 10:03 PM

Money is no object to me when it comes to appearances. I would pay whatever it takes to be the best that I can be (anything, even surgery), the thing is that spending a lot of money on food doesn't make me the best I can be, it just makes me bigger (not a good thing). I want to be as slim as possible. I only like to spend on things which make me look better, not get fatter.

421Fill 06-09-2008 10:44 PM

ok bausch, we get it...

Socks 06-09-2008 10:45 PM

I just got here.. Can someone wrap this thread up into a sentence for me please?

Small poem?

421Fill 06-09-2008 10:48 PM

to the subject... I have noticed an increase in overall food costs here in ventura county. pretty annoying, but I just adjust and adapt. I think it was sly that mentioned the hysteria surrounding today's economy issues, and I totally see the hysteria... in the people, in the media... my job takes me to many different homes in a day, and I hear the woes at most of them.

Sarah_Jayne 06-10-2008 03:47 AM

I suppose we should be happy that most of us live in societies where we can simply adapt. Which is probably why we haven't had the food riots some parts of the world have had in the past couple months.

You and my mother would get along great. Now because she spent her life making sure she stayed under 100 pounds (she's 5'1") her face looks terrible because the skin just hangs there and she has to give herself shots every day because her bones are deteriorating. The doctor told her if she had just lived her life 20 pounds heavier she probably could have avoided the bone issue completely. Now she is in danger of even a simple fall breaking a bone. My grandmother was the same way and spent the last 20 years of her life in a bone breaking healing process of some sort - hips, arms, legs....

She's always "taken care of herself" - exercising, eating right, etc. but just went overboard trying to look good. Being underweight is just as dangerous as being overweight.

Due to my family history I will have a bone scan every 5 years. At 45 they were perfect. I thank me for enjoying eating :)

I don't HAVE TO WORK HARD TO BE UNDER 100 LBS! It comes naturally. My body is this way NATURALLY. I used to eat unhealthy for MANY years including burgers, fast food and after gaining a lot of weight I am still under 100 lbs. I am small-boned by nature.

Once I hit 30 I decided to eat healthy, it's NOT TO LOSE WEIGHT but to be perfectly TONED and FIT, and to get a SIX PACK.

I am tired of people thinking I am underweight because I just happen to be born with a high metabolism. It's not my fault that most people in America are overweight when they eat less than me and I can probably eat twice as much as them and never even come CLOSE to their weight. I was blessed genetically in many ways. I see a lot of fat people eating little and they are still fat while I can eat a lot and STILL be thin. I was born this way. A lot of people (not you, but others) are haters and cannot stand the fact that I could be this way naturally.

A lot of big people are envious of me because they used to see me eating a lot but not getting fat. Overweight people do not want to accept that there are people like me who are this way naturally. It just drives them crazy. It's not my fault I have good genes. What can I say, life is not fair. (for them anyways). It'sgreat for me tho. The point is not that I want to lose weight, I want to be fit. Even tho I am under 100 lbs my abs are not defined and its started to get bigger... yes. And I want to be fit like a star.

My natural body weight (without dieting and with eating quite a lot) is still under 100lbs. BTW, you don't know my height, (which I don't feel like posting on here) but my weight is in proportion to my body.

bausch 06-10-2008 09:47 PM

i am under 100lbs but my belly is still big for my body. I want it to be defined. I want my legs to be more toned.

I want to look perfect and there is nothing wrong with that. You haven't seen me in person I am small boned. If I was 105 lbs it would look abnormally big for my body. Everyone is built different.

I want my body to be rock hard, not lose weight. I don't want to lose weight. Besides, MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT.

bausch 06-10-2008 09:53 PM

I have to eat healthy now because for many years I abused my body by eating fast food, fries, processed foods, in n out, pizza, butter, pasta etc VERY VERY fattening foods and I am STILL under 100lbs. I never had to struggle to weigh what I do. It comes naturally. It is me. It is who I am. I was born this way. I pigged out for years and I'm still not fat.

I have only been on a healthy kick for like a month so far. And I don't plan to lose weight, except around my stomach, I want to be fit and toned. That is healthy. That is sexy. Just being skinny with no muscle tone is not "in", you need muscle definition.
