Did you ever buy the tanning salon?

Alysha and I actually own a tanning salon as well as a few other non-adult businesses. We aren't hands on with it, and I only stop by there every once in a while (Alysha stops by to print the paychecks once a week), but it's a fairly profitable business for us, considering we don't have to babysit it too much.

If you're still looking for advice, let me know and I'll pass along the info to her.

I close on the 1st :)

So far I've already spent $5K in lamps, lotions, signage, etc. for August 08 :helpme

BUT one of the girls just decided she didn't have time to work there and I was hoping to get it down to me and someone else w/o having my unemployment insurance going up so that worked out perfectly. The current owners didn't think so since now they have to work for the next week.

I swear, having a brick and mortar biz is WAY different than the interwebs. :Oh crap

Congrats.

Our biggest expense is the rent. We pay $3500 a month for our location, not including any utilities. That seemed like a huge chunk of change when we first bought the place, but it's just the cost of doing bidness I guess, lol.

Let me know if you need any advice...

What are you selling besides tans/lotions? Silver jewelry FLIES out of there and I can get it cheap at the Mart. I'm looking at knock off designer bags for the kids (the ones that don't try THAT hard to look real so I'm not getting arrested) and candles and home spa treatments for adults. This is a tourist/retiree town with the teenagers just paying their dues in school until they can move out.

I'll be buying a new bed in about 6 months. The HP are not popular here so I'm not wasting my money on that. I have 4 level 1 beds that get the hell beat out of them - relamping all them except one next week - and 2 bronzing beds which aren't really true Level 2's as they use 100's in top and bottom. My next bed will be a true level 2 MAYBE a 3.

They had a water massage machine but I "sold" it to them to lower the price. It wasn't getting any use and no one I talked to wanted to use it, lol. I'm hoping to cut down on payroll and stay open more (they were closed 4 months this year because they truly don't have time to run it) and advertising like a mofo - which at the very least will cause my competition to start spending money advertising :thumbsup

Email me if you have any advice - I'LL TAKE IT ALL!!! :)

I won't tell you what my rent is because you will cry, if you promise not to tell me what your net is because that will make ME cry. :helpme
