The US would be flooding the market with strategic reserves crashing the markets before that happens.

Either that or extreme nationalisation in the name of national security.

LOL.

The US can't do shit about energy prices. They got us by the balls.

We have 2% of the reserves but use 25% of the worlds oil.

And as for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, it only holds 727 million barrels of oil and we import a net of 12 million barrels of oil a day or a 58 day supply.

So we are not in a position to flood anything.

In the UK Try ~ 80% tax and fuel rising to GBP 1.30 per Litre ~ $8-$10 per Gallon

Flooding the market with Strategic Petroleum Reserve is not meant to supply the world with oil.. Its meant to cause a disruption in the markets popping the speculation bubble.

Hell they don't even have to flood the market they can simply ban oil speculation or make it more expensive to do so.

I'm sorry but $10 per gallon gas before the end of the year.. there will be missles flying if that happens. I honestly can't see it.

Mid-summer? It's 5.09 at the "just off the highway so we can charge a little more" station down the street from me already :disgust

In this June 10, 2008 file photo, a woman walks past the price board at a Shell gas station in San Mateo, Calif. Unlike the energy crises of the 1970s, when the world assumed the oil price spike was temporary, analysts say high energy prices could be here to stay. A sustained price hike will hit businesses and consumers on almost every conceivable level and living with this could change global behavior for good.

It's almost $5 by me so I say yes. I think we'll have some inflation for the next 6-12 months that will cause it to break the mark nationally. I have not heard many economists say they think it will come down anytime soon.

jmk 06-15-2008 01:28 AM

More like in a couple days yes

siccmade 06-15-2008 01:49 AM

I hope not. Been around $4/gallon here and that's too much!
