The only band on the first page that is actually over rated is Jane's Addiction, the rest rock. I'm not reading page 2 or 3... this thread is 95% garbage.

Grab a bass or a guitar and try to make something remotedly similar to anything those 3 bands have recorded. Maybe and only maybe... you realize they were genius bands. 'The Doors' are fucking amazing playing rock n' roll songs like LA Woman and they have a unique sound. Only The Doors Sound like The Doors and if a band cannot be copied, they're legendary.

Listen to some of the crap that has come out in the last 15 years to see some serious bullshit. I can't believe ppl saying the stones or nirvana or the guns n' roses are overrated haha, I bet you listen to electronica and feel like it's almost art.

Now don't get me wrong I am sure he is a very talented songwriter but 98 pct. of what I heard since The Beatles disbanded sucked serious balls.

It's like if you would want to take the most mediocre sample group of squares, packed them into the bus for a roadtrip and then wanted to play them something that will keep them comfortable.

A bit of "rockin" but not too much, not too complicated and totally non conflicting lyrics, very melodic, simple to remember - very much easy listening at the end.

Although I kind of liked what he did with Michael Jackson in the times when Jacko was still black and also the song with the monks that are about to be run over by a train in the video.

I would never touch the legacy of the Beatles but Paul McCartney and the wings, that's not my cup of tea, even served by sir Paul personally.

I was looking for the essence that makes Zeppelin sound like Zeppelin for ages and after I read this and played the first four albums again - I heard it there, great observation!

A different way to ask is "What music don't you like that lots of other people think is legendary/classic"?

I like Zeppelin. I can't stand U2.
