Usually I think you are pretty right on. This is the exception.
Press releases are great link building tools. Any phrase that I am going for is a lot easier to obtain with the clever use of press releases. |

When Juicy is about to blow, he always shouts "For immediate release!". It's his thing. It's his thing that he does.

I think I've posted a handful of press releases here. I'm not even up to the point where I can include a URL in the post.
It really is a matter of hitting the right target. We send regularly to AVN, Ynot, Xbiz, etc, and there are many news sites that use press releases for affiliate links. But Sherry and I are treading carefully into new territory here with Midnite. It's pretty obvious GFY isn't about press releases and news. Pleasurepays is spot on about something. I quote Tory from Midnite, and I'm now allowed to quote Sal Senior, and of course, there's Midnite Sally. Unlike certain publicists, we don't quote ourselves in a press release, unless there is a very specific issue regarding publicity to adress "We really like working with TalkingSexRadio.com, they are a lot of fun". Quoting yourself in a press release is redundant. The press release is a quote from the person writing the release. One final irony, hardcore mainstream writers we know don't always need a press release. Just a simple few sentances in the right direction will do. These guys want to get the story for themselves, not be a mouthpiece for a publicist. |

This thread should be linked to in all future "press release" threads posted here on GFY. Particularly post #7.

I don't think PR's are fake and condescending, just another way to get publicity on top of the "hey bro, we did this and that" type of publicity. It's the format that our industry publications - like most - accept, fine with me.
