How is the little guy doing buddy? All better I hope? Give him a big sloppy kiss from me.

He's doing great man. Completely different dog now though. I guess it's good because it really mellowed him out.

On the flip side, I'm sure the attack took a couple of years off his life. :(

Looks about as much like a Dalmation as it does a Golden Retriever.

Today he gave him a jag tho and I had to get worming tablets as well. $110 it cost me again today. Got me thinking about how much he costs me per year.

Its funny how I won't think twice about taking my dog to the Vet at the smallest sign of something wrong with him. It ends up costing me a fortune, but if I have something wrong with myself I won't go bother a doctor.. I just ride it out until it goes away or gets serious LOL.

Whats the most your pet has cost you?

get pet health insurance. You save a lot of money.

Ugh that is a shitty website. Anyone who promotes dog fighting should be shot. :2 cents:

Wow, I was under the impression that pet insurance was a bit of a scam, but I just looked up how much this would have saved me on chemotherapy bills, vs cost of the plan over his lifetime, and the savings are staggering. Definitely going to insure all my future dogs.

JaneB 07-09-2008 07:22 PM

I have two dogs. Husker is a black lab and Lola is a german shepherd. I have always spent a lot of money on both dogs. Husker is so active she gets hurt a lot. Lola had not had a lot of vet bills until recently. They both do have dog insurance, which really does save a lot. Both dogs have been diagnosed with hip dysplasia this year. Lola was also has last three vertebrae fusing together which causes arthritis. She also had impacted anal glands. So they are both on a lot of pills right now and geting VOM treatments from the vet. For those of you that do not know what VOM is, there is a brief description below.

Many of the problems that veterinarians treat are vague and hard to define because our pets can’t tell us what is going on An emerging field in veterinary medicine is a version of chiropractic manipulation for animals known as veterinary orthopedic manipulation (VOM). Unlike the typical human chiropractic adjustment, which requires awkward positions and quick forceful movements, VOM uses non-invasive, even enjoyable treatments for your pets. Not only are the treatments extremely effective, but because of the differences in the nervous system of humans vs. animals, we are able to use the treatment for diagnostic purposes.

See you're doing it wrong. I pimped out my cat, and she makes me money.

Seriously.

I don't even want to know how much I spend on my dog a year. I have a 150lb Mastiff with way too many health problems. He takes all kinds of meds, I have to give him shots three times a month, I have to board him when I'm out of town, and he's on prescription food...costs me $1800 a year just to feed the little guy! And that's not including all the treats and toys his mama buys him! But I wouldn't trade him for the healthiest dog on the planet because he's the best dog EVER! He's pretty unforgettable and everyone falls in love with him. He's my life and I love being his mom! Can't put a price on that...

We bread german shepherds and one of them named Bora (it's she) has an allergy to chicken meat so we feed her with ProPlan Salomon & Rise. The cure was a bit expensive, but it doesn't matter, she's our princess. She's hyperactive so she hurts herself very often and it's getting usual to visit our Vets :)

My parrot needs new toys every now and then and expensive food so its quite a lot.,

PersianKitty 07-10-2008 01:27 AM

I've had several of my cats live to be over 15 years old. As they get older things tend to happen healthwise. I just figure if you spread the cost out for how long (figuratively) you've had the animal it's more than worth it.

Of course now.. one of these kitties...

was *the* persian kitty.

v4 media 07-10-2008 03:32 AM

my ferret costs about $10 a month in food and about $20 a year in injections, but he's chewed every curtain, and chair he can find, he's got a fabric fetish.

Golden Labrador to be exact hehe. But yeah he's very very good with people and other animals. We had a cat when we first got the dog and he loved him.. I swear to you when my cat died the dog was different for the first 2 weeks. It freaked me out. It was like he was missing his old buddy (even tho the cat didnt really like him that much)

Good to hear he's fit and healthy again. Can't imagine how you must have felt when that happened.

Dogs tend to have big hearts. When I was a kid we had a dog and him mom was a golden retriever. We never knew who his father was but since he was black and kind of resembled a labrador we always thought the dog's father must have been a labrador. Seems like your dog is worth every cent. A great and faitfull friend.
