So this thread has compelled me to drop the booze until new years. Its going to be hard as fuck to put away the bottle but i want to see how much i can shed off

I'm 5'10 and used to be around 235, now I'm below 180. The trick is to ease into the diet, don't just start out fasting and completely cutting out your favorite foods because you'll hate your life, blame the diet and quit.

First, take the foods that you eat right now and just make them less bad for you. Ex. if you get fried chicken, remove the skin. If you order pizza, get veggie toppings or just cheese. If you get fast food order the chicken sandwich (the grilled kind, the breaded chicken is actually worse for you) and don't get fries or a meal. You're better off getting another burger than getting fries and a drink. Also, get everything sans cheese.

Second, drink a shit ton of water -- it'll make you less hungry and it spurs muscle growth, which you need to cut down fat. If you have to mix it with Crystal Lite, do it, it's only like 10 calories a package.

Third, exercise. The same is true of exercise as diet, don't start trying to run 5 miles a day. If you push yourself too hard with exercise you'll hate your life and give up. I'm not a nutritionist, I just used to be fat and now I'm not.

Of course I care what people who know about Judo has to say....HOWEVER, when it comes to a tournament, against an opponent who also knows Judo, you also need MUSCLE....I'm not saying that you don't use any technique at all...However:

Technique + Muscle > Technique alone....

I have a good weight loss program.

I snort all of my food. First I lay my food out on the table. Then I cut it up using a credit card. I roll up a $100 (sometimes a $1 if I already visited the Cheetah's that day) and snort away. First, it really burns. But, I only get in 400 - 500 calories a day like this.

Sarah_Jayne 08-28-2008 01:44 PM

I will say that probably the most important thing I have learned after a life time of diets and finally finding what works for me is to not really be on a diet but eat how I plan to eat for the rest of my life. It took me about 6 months or a year for how I eat now to feel just like how I eat rather than me sacrificing anything on a 'diet'. Yeah, I count calories and fat grams every day but that is a portion control thing and a mindset control thing for me rather than being about what types of foods I eat. Tomorrow is my 'cheat' day and my big treat is some hummus and marinated artichokes. That is miles away from who I used to be with food.

The second thing I have learned, is not to make it a quick sprint but understand this will take a long time and therefore hopefully stay off. Every time I have lost any amount of weight quickly it has come back and brought some friends.

Life change rather than diet is what finally has worked for me.

Solid advice right here...

I weighed in at 260 this morning.. so 8lbs down this week. It's all water weight, I know. I drank pretty good at the Qwebec expo, so the water weight was a given. It's certainly motivating to see the # drop.

I am putting together the details for the contest and hope to have something official online late next week:-)

Look for BIG prizes and incentives to drop the weight the right way!

WTS_JOHN 09-02-2008 12:51 PM

I hit the scale today... down to 222 now... only lost 2 pounds over august but I was glad to have not gained any weight...

I'll weigh in again on october 1st... my goal is 200 by 1st of January...

theharvman 09-02-2008 12:57 PM

more power to ya.

Sharky 09-02-2008 02:31 PM

Awesome John. I am at 259 as of this morning, jwhich isn't bad as I did have a few beers yesterday to celebrate Labor Day:-)

You're weighing yourself too much.....You shouldn't focus on losing weight per se....You should focus on looking good....Doing that will cause the weight loss to come anyway.

I've decided to only weigh myself once a month as I'm looking for the long term results...I don't want to have to calculate my weight on any particular day based on some beers that I had during the holiday...

Hell, if I'm going to weigh every day, then I know I'm gonna drop a pound just from filming my blowjob video tomorrow....My balls are swollen so much I can feel it in my stomach.....Plus taking the following supplements every day along with lifting weights have increased my sperm production:

1 Multi Vitamin
1 Zinc tablet
1 Magnesium tablet
1 L-Glutamine tablet
2 Fish/Flaxseed/Borage oil tablets
4 Creatine Tablets

Peaches 09-02-2008 03:10 PM

I just bought another tanning salon. I will soon not be able to afford food. Best diet evah ;)

I have been "making deals" with myself like crazy and I've been packing on the pounds. Worked out? Then no need for the treadmill. Treadmill? Skip a work out. Worked out AND hit the treadmill? Eat a cheesecake.

I need to take EVERYTHING fattening and give it away. Everything. Then siphon all the gas from the cars so I can't go anywhere to buy more food. I need drastic measures!!! :( I've gained 5 pounds since I started working out to lose weight and it's ALL because of my eating habits.

Honestly I think with the two salons starting in October I won't have much time to eat out which is my #1 killer. I'll be forced to make a sandwich to take to work with some fruit. But now I've been running errands like crazy and "grabbing" a fast bite and never in a good place.

Great for those of you already losing!!

(I secretly hate you ;) )

Evil E 09-02-2008 03:12 PM

Hey Sharky, still had my fair share of junk this week end(beers, HUGE thai pad....etc) but I already started working out, can't wait for you guys to put the official details together for the contest!

I'm almost considering cutting all alcohol from my diet for this :)

Ugh I was down 2lbs yesterday so I "treated" myself to a lunch that was way too big (leftover chicken makhani and rice.) Then I got on the scale today and quelle surprise! My 2lbs came back!

I'm off to the beach stairs to run them for a while...

Sharky 09-10-2008 01:01 PM

Your weight will fluctuate like at. The day following your cheat meal, eat greens and very lean. Drink plenty of water and it will come back off;-)

Good for you and congrats. 2lbs to you is much larger % than 2lbs to me! hahaha

Sarah_Jayne 09-10-2008 01:17 PM

Weighing yourself everyday is asking to feel bad about yourself. Weigh weekly at the same time of day (I do it before I have eaten anything) and then you will get an idea where you really are rather than the up and down fluctuations that happen from day to day. Not only can you get bummed by a sudden 'false' gain from one day to the other but you can also have a day where you weigh a couple pounds less and then you will only get down when you get back on the next day and it has come back.

Can you tell I have been there?

Yes, I weigh before I jump in the shower, before I eat, so there's no meals to get me down. But I'm a bit of a junky... it'd be hard to do it only once a week.

I'm 5'9 and change and around 265.....I might have lost 15 pounds maximum since February but I'm down a shirt size from 2xl to xxl....I've just now discovered the magic of squats so I'm going to be losing more inches in no time....

I can't see me weighing any less than 250 when I get down to xl.....

I just lift weights and squeeze in some Yoga and Pilates when I can.....Plus lots of time in the Sauna and Jacuzzi....Plus I swim a little bit.......But when I'm in the weightroom, I work out HARD so that I can build muscle and in turn, burn more calories while I am at rest......My sex drive has gone through the roof and my ballsac is always on full....I bust nice thick loads now on the routine....

If you aren't worried about pounds and more about looking good and reversing the aging process, LIFT WEIGHTS!!!.....I should've been doing this shit a long time ago.....I dont' diet or any of that shit....I still drink but it's mostly Merlot these days and I still smoke the herb.....I quit smoking cigarettes regularly but that has only been since June so for five of the past 8 months, I was inhaling toxic Newport smoke........I also have a half eaten $1 double cheeseburger from Mcdonalds sitting right here.....

I take Zinc and Folic acid for muscle growth and sperm development....I just bought some Magnesium today to help me lift weights....And I also take a multi vitamin....

And when I'm eating a fatty meal, I pop a couple capsules of Chitosan because not only does it suck up the fat out of your meal, it's a great source of fiber....

Since this post, I have finished my first bottle of Creatine (2 wks supply), along with adding some more supplements and I have put on six pounds of muscle...

So even though I have gained six pounds, I look leaner!!!....

edit...I've added a LOT of supplements since then including

Arginine
Lysine
Glutamine

james_clickmemedia 09-17-2008 01:44 PM

About 2.5 years ago I was at 205 lbs and through going to the gym + tennis I got down to 175 in about 18 months...
The last year I am anywhere between 175-185 and it's tough to keep the weight off even working out 5 times a week and changing up the workout often..

Good luck to all involved in the weight loss challenge..

Ahhh of course we do a weight loss contest AFTER I lose 40lbs LOL!

I'm on my last 20lbs and it's fucking killing me (Currently 218, 6 feet tall)... Working out 4x a week with my trainer, 3x a week hockey...

The killer for me is the booze, I love the sauce haha!

If Mr Eric Red Eyes wants to do a fitness challenge I am all over that like a fat kid on a smartie. :1orglaugh

Phoenix 09-17-2008 05:43 PM

im also on the fitness brigade, havent weighed in since being in korea, but i think im around 208 right now, maybe 210.

cutting all carbs out helped, but i sneak some in now and then.
hiking two hours 3 times a week is all im doing for excercise with some situps etc.
when i get back to canada, ill be hitting the gym 3-4 times a week as well, and continuing to play basketball. im happy at 205 and trim

HAPPYPEEKERS 09-17-2008 06:33 PM

I have tried walking for a year and never lost any weight :-(

About 1 week ago I joined this free fitness/nutrition site www.sparkpeople.com
you count your calories, log your exercises which I have never done before.

I did the bootcamp workout the first day for 30 min.
I was so sore the next day that I could not hardly walk..

I hope counting calories really works so so so damn bad

I bet you are busy as hell. I wish you the very best of luck!!

Are you tan?

btw ive deduced that people who smoke weed will not easily lose weight as they eat crap after getting the munchies...eat celery only maybe if you cant put the joint down

LOL, of course - they say a tan takes 10 pounds off you. Tan fat looks better than white fat :thumbsup

Still doing DD on the 2nd salon but it's looking scary. She's been running a cash only biz for 5 years - cash in from customers/cash out for employees. Since I'm doing full payroll at the other salon this doesn't seem like something I want to walk into the middle of.

Still gaining :helpme I have another endoscopy on Monday and they'll decide if they're going to do surgery again. If they do, then I won't have food sitting in my stomach for DAYS at a time, plus I'll feel like shit and won't want to eat - but I also won't be able to do anything but short walks

One thing having a trainer taught me was something as simple as stretch bands and one of the exercise balls are AWESOME. $30 at Walmart beats $30 for half an hour any day!

Now, where's my ice cream.........

BVF 09-18-2008 10:13 AM

Just came back from a light workout session and an hour of Yoga.....I feel great.

Got home and took a shot of Vodka and a hit off of the bowl and I'm drinking a Soy Protein Shake...

Elli 09-18-2008 11:30 AM

I've had a wicked flu thing for a couple days and lost 1.5lbs... I guess I'll take what I can get.

Shit Mike, old buddy, old pal...you should talk to me. I am down to 6.5% body fat and ripped. I worked out for 16 months and saw no gains of any consequence -- until I changed my diet. I attribute where I am now to 95% diet and only 5% from the workouts.

BVF 10-13-2008 10:23 AM

Still in the gym....still working hard....still packing on muscle....Still achieving rock hard erections....Still busting thick loads of vitamin/mineral/amino acid rich sperm down women's throats...

I need to drop 10 pounds.....but the chocolate in my fridge keeps calling my name. As soon I consume all that I will start watching what I eat again....LOL.....watching it go in my mouth. :P

Sharky 04-10-2009 11:04 AM

This thread is haunting me! lol. All the travel and shows has put a damper on my weight loss... That and Italian dinners with Blazingbucks and PK;-)

shibumi2k 04-10-2009 05:40 PM

Everyone is dead on about watching what you eat - and how much (common sense I know, but it's easy to get away from). Portion control - 5 meals a day (keeps the metabolism up) - and definitely read the labels!! Cut out all of the high fructose and partially hydrogenated crap!! We had to spend 3 hours in the grocery store when we finally committed to that - just to find decent stuff to eat, but it's been well worth it!.

And - if you've seen the infomercial - P90X!! - Believe the hype!! p90x[dot]com

My wife and I did this program... it's just back to basics - do it in your home - fitness! GREAT SERIES!!

I dropped 25 lbs - 186 to 161 (6' tall) and dropped 9% body fat - 26% down to 17%.

Like I say - it's back to basics - push ups, pull ups, & dumbbells. When I started I could barely do 1 pull-up... 90 days later and I was knocking out multiple sets of 10.

If you HATE to workout - give the program a shot. If it got my lazy ass into shape, it will work for ANYONE!! :2 cents:
