Actually, when it comes to what politics is fundamentally about, the stadium picture is worth less than even a single word. It's a pretty picture, certainly, but it doesn't tell you anything about Obama's plans for the economy, foreign relations, health care, poverty, the environment, energy, national security, foreign aid, immigration, outsourcing - you know, the important stuff.

It shows he can draw a huge crowd. At the risk of confusing Fletch again, so could Hitler. Or Hannah Montana, for that matter. Bono, too. Not to mention Britney Spears.

I'm sure that pretty pictures make you feel all mushy inside, but they are entirely worthless when you have to decide who to vote for. Gushing over prettiness in politics is entirely foolish. It's like drinking Pepsi instead of Coke because you prefer the commercial ads - only a million times worse, because you're not just choosing a drink, you're influencing the future of the entire fucking world.

Instead of drooling over Obama's speeches, do things like comparing this with this. You should still end up with Obama, but for good reasons, rather than bad ones.

Obamas plan is pretty damn close to McCains. There really is no difference between the two. Obama may have the luxury of being a president when a war is ending. Plans of right now are that we are leaving in 2011 to 2013. Obama and McCain have nothing to do with that. Unless they fuck it up and we have to stay there longer.

Both McCain and Obama plan on taking troops from Iraq and putting them in Afghanistan. Both McCain and Obama are threatening Iran with war. Both McCain and Obama support the Patriot Act. Both Obama and McCain support FISA. Both McCain and Obama will keep our troops in over 150 countries.

So where exactly will Obama save money that isn't already in the works?

Cutting off the "tax loopholes" will only cause the prices of goods to go up. Maybe we should be talking about illuminating the TAX not the loopholes. :thumbsup
